I'm looking for someone in western Nova Scotia who owns a Cooper Excalibur, Jackson Hunter or both. I am considering purchasing one but would actually like to handle one before committing.

Looks like your not getting any luck with responses to your request. Yesterday I ordered another Cooper from Prophet River Firearms..................it is our third Cooper between my son and I. To give you an idea on the Cooper, its is robust, heavy, balance is front heavy, glass smooth action, very accurate, fit and finish is superb, tolerances are overall tight on the firearm.

I agree with Track's description and was in the same position as you - no one I knew had one and there weren't any around to heft. Took the plunge anyway because it had many of the things i like in a rifle: quality, nice wood , a little on the heavy side with a thicker barrel that makes it feel front heavy, and guaranteed accuracy.
When I got mine I was pleased. Once the scope was mounted, it seemed more balanced as well...

A question for track and west250, how do you find the trigger quality and weight on your Coopers?

Crisp.....no creep, no after travel and it broke at 2 3/4 pounds. However, I find the trigger to broad and would like to have ridges on them for a better feel. It kind of feels like a trigger shoe without the ridges.

Thanks, guy's. How do you find the LOP. 13 3/4" seems long as I'm not a big guy and I find most guns feel better with 13 3/8" - 13 1/2". I had a Browning BLR once and it felt too long with it's 13 3/4" LOP.
Also, do any of you have a Excalibur and a Jackson Hunter. Which do you prefer and why?

Trigger on the 30-06 was set for 4 pounds, but I had it adjusted to 3. I've yet to sight in but did notice the width of the trigger as track has said. The trigger seems pretty crisp from what my sausage fingers can determine, it certainly feels every bit as good as my Sako Hunter or TC Icon.
I ended up picking out one of the classics from WSS's sale this past month, but I do like they style of the Jackson Hunter. If they were both available and at the same price I would have opted for the Jackson Hunter's stock style, but the Classic's still a pretty deluxe smoke pole. I'm going to use this one, it'll be no safe queen so it's best that I didn't get too high grade with it. I don't notice any extra length of pull - I think all my hunting rifles are around the 13 3/4 mark. It'll be a good moose gun, and I'm looking forward to hunting with it next season!

I currently own four Coopers, and am expecting another one soon. I find the triggers to be very good, if not quite on par with my Sako triggers. I for one do not like grooved triggers. The 13-3/4" length of pull suits me fine.

The grip shape makes the Coopers seem a little shorter than they measure out. Mine is lengthened out to 14" instead of my normal 13 7/8". Good solid guns for the price, I wouldn't trade mine for 2 Sakos.

It was funny, when looking for a 7mm I had it down to the Cooper and Sako. Ended up going with the Sako because I could heft one locally, and also because they were cheaper. Then it turns out that I end up buying the Cooper for cheaper than the Sako one year later!

I already own a Sako. Actually I've owned a few.

I have a Sako 85 Bavarian in a 300WSM which has great quality as the Coopers. In fact they are better balanced than the Coopers and have a single set trigger. Fit and finish, workmanship, craftsmanship, accuracy, reliability is all there.

I have owned three Jackson Hunters, and have fired an Excalibur, and I much prefer the stock on the Jackson Hunter. My new Cooper is also going to be a Jackson Hunter.

I have one of the Classics and it's a nice rifle. I don't think there would be much, if anything to complain about with a Cooper.

i own an excalibre. prefer this over the jackson but would like a trimer stock like a win feather weight pattern in a mac edge. this will be on my to do list as i love the rifle.

I have a Jackson hunter as well. I love the rifle, it fits me well and is incredibly accurate. It is on the heavy side once its scoped. Wouldn't be my first choice for a mountain/hiking rifle. The triggers are very easy to adjust as well. Did mine in about 5 minutes.
