I have what I need to see bullet holes at a 1000 yards!
First of all I am not a tech guy, my background is in high voltage, so if I can do it you can!!!! This was tested today at -4 C with clear line of sight between antennas. I am into it for a little over $200.00 using an existing video camera, portable 12v/120v invertor, tripods and desktop monitor.
Tested today and clear picture up to 1320 yards, picture started breaking up after that. (GPS used to verify distance). Picture was clear enough to easily see bullet holes.
Here is what is in the pictures below.
Transmitter / Receiver 2.4 ghz 3 watt, make sure you get them to ship USPS to avoid brokerage fees. Also, make sure it is the 3 watt as linked to get the distance.

I wanted to use an old desktop monitor so I bought a video to VGA convertor on ebay. Make sure to get the one with RCA input jack for camera. You could use a small flat screen TV if you have one that would avoid the need for the convertor.

Not pictured is a Canadian tire air pump/ booster /invertor to supply 120 at camera and a cigarette plug in invertor at the truck. And, two tripods.
At this point the only unknown is the temperature change up to 30C. Not sure if anything will effect signal but sure looks good right now. I am told that a directional antenna at each end will look after any problems if necessary in summer.
