Recently (Jan 15) IPSC Alberta held its Qualifier 8 match at the TSE in Calgary. It was the first for 2012, and had multiple difficulties to overcome.

We had to work around the loss of Virginia Count, a mainstay for indoor matches. We had to develop and build a match on a recommended budget of $150.00 (insanely low). We had to squeeze 6 stages into two very narrow shooting bays.

Here is the result, which I think is a good representation of what can be expected at an indoor match; in Alberta at least.

Stage designs are welcome, given that I need to work on the next match as well.

Looks like fun but I didn't think you were allowed the shoot with a cement wall as a back drop even at an angle....or am I looking at it wrong?

Any shots into the wall or floor would result in a DQ, as per range rules, unless there was an obvious stage design flaw. The angled shots are into bullet traps.

The angled shots are into bullet traps.

The bullet traps are wooden boxes. On the inside top of each box is a layer of rubber conveyer belt. On the inside bottom is a layer of steel plate. The bullets go through the wood, through the rubber, and hit the steel. They they bounce backwards into the rubber and remain inside the box, with the bullets falling out the bottom. We've been using them for ~5 years now with great success.

Lovin' these POV videos - looks like every 1st person video game I've every played...

BTW I'm taking my BB course next weekend - so it won't be video games anymore - looking forward to it ! w:h:

For what you had to work with, that looked awesome. Those "alpha only" targets looked hard - especially from that distance. Although, the perspective may be skewed due to your fish-eye cam.

Overall, looked fun. I wish we had an indoor around here. Spring seems so far away and I'm really jonesing for a match!

There is mixed opinion on the targets we used. However, we tried to stay try to the DVC ideals. The "Alpha" only targets, where placed behind no-shoots, and followed a section that was speed oriented. The purpose was to get the competitors to slow down. If they were going to spray the targets, it was going to punish them, and it did. The targets were only about 7m away, so they were easily achievable.
