Handgun shop in Niagara?

Still a complete noob but I would like to hold a handgun and get some advice in person. I was in Toronto yesterday and stopped into Bass Pro Shop only to find out they only carry long guns. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean and don't know of a shop in Niagara Falls but there could be one. Lanz Shooting Supplies isn't far away and has the benefit of being located at the Silverdale club where I'm a member. Call there and ask for Seth. Tell him Gord sent you. He will be away on some vacation starting at the end of the month but will be back in early February. He can either supply or order just about anything you might want. If it's convenient, the club is a good one and will give you a place to hang your hat and get your LATT.

I'm not sure of what the law says but when I went to Al Simmons before I had my RPAL, they would not show me a handgun. Looking through the glass was useless to me at that time. They claimed that they could not allow me to handle a gun.

I belong to two clubs. One is Silverdale and the other is Waterford. We hold a weekly IPSC practice session on Monday nights. If you can, go there and ask for Len. We treat visitors very well there. I can't be there myself but tell Len that Gord sent you.

???? I've been going there for years (even before I got my pal) I was almost prodded into handling the handguns by the grumpy Tim lol and Keith. This must be a new policy. While their prices aren't always the best the staff there has a,ways been good to me (then again I've never asked for loctite lol).

It's their BS policy, not the law.

Happened to me too first time I ever went there years ago, I passes my courses and was waiting for the PAL in the mail. They wouldn't show me anything. When I go there they still ask me for PAL once in a while.

I'm not so sure about that. I went to Elwood Epps where you have to look through a barred window to see the handguns and then you could only handle the class of firearms that were listed on your PAL.

I have never read anything in the law that covers this but it could be so. I would like for anyone that knows for sure to comment. If it's a policy I'm sure they have their reasons but the policy did not serve them well in my case. I have since purchased close to $20k worth of handguns and accessories and not one dollar in that store.

It could be the most short-sighted policy a shop owner could adopt. When I was a small business man, I loved potential customers who had nothing at the point they talked to me. Many of them became good customers for the whole time I was in business.

The strange thing was that I called ahead of time, told the person what interested me and then went there at an appointed time. :confused:
