Heh, read this !!!!

So in laymans terms... does this mean that anyone in the US can now ship parts to canada without an export permit, as long as it's valued under $500?

I got this answer from a member in the US.

Way too early to be able to speak authoritatively on it. It might be good news, but if the language actually only affects licensed manufacturers, it may wind up doing squat for individual shippers.

Update; Brownells got back to me on this.

Dear ###X

Until it comes through as an official Federal Register notice, we won’t be compiling.

THANKS to the customer for the head's up!

Looks like nothing is happening till official paperwork comes out.

Not that it really matters but this was posted on NRA's web site and NFA's last November.

Here's the article from: h ttp://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=7180

i have already used this new exemtion to import a rhineland arms rail stock for a 10 22 build i have the letter that rhineland sent me explaining the new changes that allow him to ship up to 500 to canada now it just came into effect about a week before xmas got the stock no problems and it was over 100 bucks the email is posted in the legal section i also contacted brownells and was told the same they are sticking to the 100 dollar limit

here is the email rhineland sent me in regards to the question i asked about what laws have changed copied and pasted from my email from him--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------hello That took a bit longer than I though to get up there, but we sat on it
forever waiting for those laws to get processed through.

The laws that have changed relate to ITAR this is International Trade in
Arms regulation or some crap like that.

What has changed is that Canada is a major trading partner and our
congress critters changed the regulations in our favor. ITAR stated
anything gun related and over $100 could not be exported without major
paperwork, they increased that to $500 for Canada only. There are still
major restrictions on thermal vision and other high tech/sensitive items
and possible direct military firearm parts. But not ours, so as long as we
are under $500 we are fine.

Thanks
Rhineland
