Anyone know of a dealer I can pick up a vz.58 barrel from in canada? I understand that they come in various sizes and may need to see a lathe for fitting. Has anybody done this? is it worth the $$ for a new barrel or im I better just picking up a CSA? If anyones gone through this already please post!

You want to changes your 15.5 for an 18.5+ I take it? So it can be non-restricted?

If that is the case you are better off selling the one you have an buying a non-restricted model.

I have the non-restricted model, would prefer to go restricted. Main reason for switching barrels is a corroded chamber causing alot of problems with my current rifle.
Is the corrosion so bad that it can't be polished? In an electric drill chuck a piece of wooden dowel wrapped with steel wool so that it is a snug fit in the chamber. Coat the steel wool in polishing compound and run it through the chamber. This technique can cure a lot of chamber problems.

Dlask did mine. It costed a fair price but I did sell the barrel afterwards so it wasn't that expensive although it is labour intense and also a timley process.

Its relativly easy to do yourself if you have the tools and time. I used an electric drill set on LOW and began polishing the chamber, first with 0000 steel wool wrapped around a brass brush, then scotch bright followed by polishing with a metal polishing compound (or tooth paste works.) be very careful not to grind down the shoulder (thus changing the headspacing) In the end very little material if any is acctually removed.
