Kidding aside, now we have had fun at someone's expense, I used my M14 twice in CQB. Most people aim before the whistle to shoot. I can tell you the M14 get's damn heavy holding it at the ready. More than once i said "Blow the gawddamed whistle Tim!!"
I bought a Cz 858 after that.

+1, 8ish pounds for a semiauto .308 is on the light side in my view.I was pleasantly surprised by the weight of my new "shorty" from Canadaammo. It felt very light and tipped the scales @ 8.4 lb (with no mag). I think it should be well below 8 lb after I remove the flash hider, change the butt plate and remove the junk...
... but how does the op rod guide help accuracy? Just wondering because that seems like an fairly cheap update as well.
