Had a chance to get out for a quick hunt and scored with a double. With the fresh snow and slight wind it was a quiet walk to the first setup location. I went ahead and set my decoy/caller about 30 yds to my left started calling. My ecaller has been giving me trouble (remote not working properly) lately so I just turn it on and let it begin playing on low volume and rush back to my setup and begin calling with my hand calls. I called for about 15 mins and nothing showed up so I thought I should move to the other end of the farm in hopes of drawing something from across the street. I began the walk and soon realized I did not have the extra 30 mins walking time (15 min there and back) so only went about 200 yds before setting up again. I set up my decoy about 30 yds away and to my right. I didn’t even bother with the ecaller and started off with some rabbit in distress hand calls. I called for a minute and then went silent for about 2 mins…. I started again for a minute with a different hand rabbit distress caller and went silent. 30 seconds later these two guys come out from about 175yds away. Right away you could tell one was bigger than the other. They were locked onto my decoy and started going to it. I clicked off the safety, cracked up the scope a bit and followed them in. The bigger one stopped to wait for the smaller one to catch up and that’s when I took the 90yd shot. It spun once or twice and fell. The smaller one started running away I gave a few little crying yipes with my mouth no time to grab the calls, it stopped running and came back to look at his buddy, that’s when I wolfed her and dropped it. The coyote’s dropped less than 10ft from each other. Great day to be out, the conditions were perfect.... Enjoy the pics…
