Metis hunting rights in Manitoba

People in this country will never learn that you can't fight bigotry with bigotry and that two wrongs do not make a right....

At what point is enough payback enough?.... when do we get to stop dipping the educational requirements to enter university? When do we get to stop giving you additional hunting and fishing priviledges, when do we get to stop giving you a leg up when applying for government jobs?..... at what point do you say "OK we are even" and start contributing to the system instead of demanding everything from it?.....

Reminds me of the US and the African Americans who demand "reparations" because some white american's great great great great grandaddy owned their great great great great grandaddy...... it's over... history is just that, history... there were some very unfortunate things done by our ancestors on both sides actually....

At what point do you get together on the same side and work towards a greater good?.....

Arguements?

If I keep going, will you keep responding? I don't have class until tomorrow. I wanted you to have the last word but now I almost can't resist.

By all means, explain to me clearly as according to you I am both juvenile and stupid.... in laymans terms, why having a two tiered justice system and discriminatory laws based on race is a good thing for Canada in 2012.

Note I did not ask for any cute historical anecdotes about hunting in the 1750s or other such historical accounts of attrocities. I think we can both clearly agree that there were bad historical events on both sides, be it aboriginal or european.

I would like to know how you will articulate your justification of state sponsored racism as it exists today in Canada.

Perhaps you will attempt to argue the phrasology and deflect the argument claiming that its not possible for two tiered racial based laws to be discriminatory in nature as they are a corrective action based on historical wrongs.

I would suggest you look at this in a more unbiased viewpoint. Ingore the historical perspective and explain to me why exactly we allow different laws, rules and regulations in Canada that are based only on racial characteristics.

If Jim Crow laws were obscene and discriminatory, why are current Gladue type regulations or similar hunting and fishing regs any different?

Would it make you feel better if I told you I was only 12 and failed grade 3? You keep eluding to it. So there you have it, I am an uneducated rube who sorely needs to have the matter explained to him, why state racism in this context is ok and to be encouraged.

Can you and your student peanut gallery accomplish this minor task?

C'mon you two kiss and make up. Can't we all just get along? Or at least just agree to disagree. I did not start this thread to foster racism. All I wanted was to ask a for a simple clarification on hunting laws. The information I could find on Google about this was ambiguous to say the least. I have no desire to break any laws so I posed a question. Every ones help is much appreciated and I thank you all. Maybe you guys should go out for a beer or ten. After 10 or so maybe you guys might be more open to eachothers opinion. Or not.

I doubt your post got removed, take a look at my posts, I was arguing with a mod and the thread didn't get closed and the posts weren't deleted.

I really need to spend more time here.

Start thread about native rights, get me and UPS battling.

Look at what you've done man! I think this thread may becoming more interesting but it will have to wait until later this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I just bought a place and my internet isn't hooked up and I've taken enough breaks at work today because of this thread.

..... I've taken enough breaks at work today because of this thread.

This thread reminds me of a recent e-mail I received:

That is a crock of ..it if you ask me. You were looking to see what extra rights you are entitled to. You know effin well that if you kept following the rules that you have been, that you wouldn't be breaking any laws. You didnt actually think that the metis hunting rules would be stricter.

Boy you are one angry wee fugger eh? Go give it a pull laddy and you might feel better ... in fact use your other hand so it'll feel like a stranger! :p
