Clarence Weatherby @ Armco can tune SIGs.
Can he put my P226 SRT trigger double action down to 6-8 lbs? and single action 4-5 lbs?
Just asking.
You can do that yourself by replacing the main spring![]()
Yes, that's the hammer spring. Factory hammer spring is 24 lbs, I believe, but unless you use Nato ammo (with hard primers to take SMG hits) you can safely go down to 22 or even 20 lbs with excellent reliability. You can order a reduced power set from Brownells' and try which one suits best. It's a bit of pain to replace them but not so difficult. The SRT one can easily install one in five-ten minutes.

I have a 17lb mainspring in my Sig and haven't had a light strike yet in about 600 rounds. Get the wolff mainspring pack, it comes with 17, 18 and 19lb springs. Start with the 17 and if you get any light strikes move up. Cheap and simple mod that will make a huge difference in double action pull.
600 rounds... Factory or reloads?
I tried 18, 19 and 20 lbs on my Sig P228 and I got light strikes with the 19 lbs (around 30% light strikes) while with the 20 lbs spring it works fine. I also only use reloads with Winchester primers. For my P226 I use the 22 lb spring due to occasionally use of NATO ammo. However, even with the 22 lb I have gotten some light strikes with Portuguese NATO ammo, they must have very hard primers.100% Canadian BDX 124grn TMJ commercially remanucaftured. Dont shoot alot of factory ammo really. To the OP, the sigforum is worth checking out, there are dozens of threads on this subject. Bruce Gray himself (world renowned Sig pistolsmith) posts there on a semi regular basis as well, and I Believe for 100 percent reliability with a large selection of ammo he recmommends going no lower than the 19lb spring, which I have tried, and is still a very worth while upgrade over the stock spring.
