USGI Bolt Tail won't Fit thru Receiver Bridge!

I just got a NOS TRW bolt to be fitted into my early Norc. I know that the lugs and receiver where the lugs contact will need to be fit, but my question is:
Why does the rear of the bolt not even fit thru the receiver bridge? (as when you would assemble the bolt into the receiver after field stripping.) Is this typical with GI bolt conversions? Or does this mean there are other issues at play? Looks like either the bridge will have to be modified or the bolt.
I would reatly appreciate any input I can get!
 
Because it's a new bolt the roof of the receiver underside may need to be polished... the bridge shouldn't need to be modified

Yeah, that's what I thought, not worth the trouble and not worth the postage, so I just threw it awaycou:

It seems like the Chinese bolt is a little narrower across the top at the rear of the bolt. I guess I should invest in a caliper to measure it more accurately.

You can polish the top and bottom of the bolt tail as well. Don't file.... Just polish. Emory or crocus cloth is good.
I always prefer working with good condition used usgi bolts for chinese rifle builds as generally some precision lapping of the lugs is all that's required.
 
Are you saying that the tail of the firing pin is deformed some and that is causing the binding in the receiver bridge ?
I have seen a good deal of deformation on USGI firing pins ,most were the parkerized versions,the Chromed ones seem to deform a bit less.
 
Try inserting the bolt and pulling back on the rear L of the firing pin with your other hand.
Try and clear the firing pin past the receiver safety bridge and wiggle the bolt in.

I have to do this with my Mini 14. It's a tight fit. Can take me 10 minutes sometimes :mad:

This is a new bolt and new FP. It does not appear to be deformed. I'll look at it closer to check. Thanks!
