Egyptian Rasheed Carbine

Did exactly that :D
What do you want to know about the Rashid? Does it shoot? Yes and quite well (50 meters, rapid fire, benched)

Any drawbacks? Hmmm... just make sure it has a magazine, they are very expensive and rare.
Ah and yes, the disconnector is a critical part; some have been known to break. I took mine (replacement) and stoned its edges to a smooth radius to avoid cracking.

Always clean after corrosive ammo.
That's about it.
Good luck!

Where'd you get your Rasheeds?

I got mine from International Firearms in the early 1990's. Miserable bunch that International Firearms were I still miss all the cheap guns that they offered, even though what you got was a couple grades worse condition than what you paid for.

I found the last International Firearms catalog from 1995. Here's the ad for the Rashid:

Other interesting listings were Chinese SKS in new condition for $94.95 (wood stock), $114.95 (fiberglass stock), M-1 carbine for $179.95 and M-1 Garands in poor condition for $89.95

A few years ago I missed a deal on one at a gun store by about 10 min. :(

It still had Arabic markings and painted letters on the stock and sand inside the buttstock. :D

Nice group!

It looks like they were designed in a similar way to the Lee Enfield rifle.

Meaning the magazine was meant to be left in place (and replaced if damaged) and loading was done via stripper clip.

I finaly got one of these and it is impresive shots very well and is fun. I am making a 6.5 barrel for it and a scope mount will post the details after it is finished.

The target is upside down and the bullets still climbing at the 50 yd mark.

looks less impressive than the average Russian sks grouping at the 50 yd range.

Dont take too long rebuilding that thing, its prolly not worth it.

Yeah, my problem exactly! I've bought mine at LeBaron right after C-68 kicked in... the salesman told me that the SQ (local firearms "authoritah") came in and CONFISCATED all the semi-auto magazines from the store, with no compensation to the store (of course!).

So, my Rasheed has been mag-less ever since... and they haven't even given me a discount on it, lol! (paid the full $250, but it was the last one is store and was in great shape... minus the missing mag I thought I could find fairly easily - big mistake!). In later years, I tried making a custom 5-round mag out of sheet metal at one time and almost got it finished... but it never fed properly, so the whole project was scrapped.

That said, if anyone has a spare Rasheed mag lying around they're willing to part with... please PM!

As the man said, rapid fire. Like every other semi in 7.62x39 it's "minute of bad guy" and nothing more. Fired slowly and deliberately they'll shoot a tighter group than most SKS with Czech surplus. I prefer the 52/57 myself.

I'm not sure why you would want to re-barrel or scope it. Like scoping the Hakim or AG42 it's going to be awkward, ugly and require lots of holes. There were only 2000 built in the first place. Another $800 rarity into a $200 hack job. But it's your rifle.

For cryin out loud they only made about 3000 of them! Leave it be and don't BUBBA the damn thing. Scoping it will be prohibitive and probably not very successful as well. Its an AG42 derivitive and even more scarce than its parent. Leave it be and tapco-screw an SKS instead. If you want Ill trade you an SKS or two for the thing.
