As far as the auto bolt release is concerned, you can modify your existing one into an auto release in about a minute. There is a really good thread on doing this mod. The already-modified one is cheap enough, of course, but all you need is a small file & about a minute or so once the release is out & sitting on the bench. I always like saving a little money, and I'm a DIY guy by nature.
Don't worry about it, we were all there and done that ourselves .. just don't do it again or you may be sorry
Got a couple promag 10/22 25 rounds mags from Hical at $39 a pop. Absolute garbage! Prone to jam and to top it all they will NOT load full using a BC loader. I know I will stay the hell away from promag c..p from now on. Needed to modify them to fit a normal 10/22 so I can't return them (didn't try, wasn't offered).
Im sure if you get access to the EE forum you could find someone to take them off your hands. Just advertise it as "already modified promag 10/22 clips"

I bought two promags from hical as well, and have one problematic one.
I contacted Dave about it and he offered to send me some new steel lips with my next purchase to solve the problem, as well as wrote me a couple of emails telling me how to try fixing the problem right away. (which i havent gotten around to fixing the problem yet anyways)
Hes been a really stand up guy so far in my dealings, and you should try to contact him HEIS and tell him about the troubles your having. I doubt he will turn you away.
Im the kind of guy that would sure let people know if I felt I got treated poorly, and its the exact opposite with Hical.

They will need some fitting, due to variations in the Rugers. PM & we will walk you through it. Once they are fitted, they run great! Butler creek loaders dont work with the promag mags, we have the loaders for them coming in 2 weeks.
No slant intended to Hical. Service there is excellent. I still say promags are cr.p though. Saw Hical post on remedies to fix. Still, unless you are prepared to do some work (fair bit), buy ruger or bc mags. They work right out of the packaging, which is what most of us expect. Shouldn't have to buy and then put in additional (to good $ spent) work just to get a mag working properly! I'm the kind of guy that'll NOT accept cr.p with a TY.
Actually one of the 2 BC steel lips I just bought needed work right out of the packaging. Same problem with the promags: rubbing the bolt, in my case causing stovepipes. A couple minutes with a marker and file fixed that. Your buying inexpensive mass produced items made by different manufacturers at different times, you should be expecting to do a little ironing. Follow Hical's instructions and then post back about how you feel about promags. My 32 rders needed a little work and then they ran great, just as good as BC steel lips IMO.
Crap I just bought a butler creek loader... Any way to MAKE them work? I do have access to a rather large hammer if needed lol
Hmmm - my Promag 10/22 25 mag works great in my 10/22 (although I haven't tried using a loader). Of all the mags I own for it, the Promag one is the most reliable I have. Wonder what the difference is?
