UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

I was there a couple weeks ago and they didn't have one in any of the stores, and said they were waiting to find out if the status/classification was going to change before they ordered any in. Could have just been the clerk I spoke with.

Both the chiappa and the rossi have long since been classified by the RCMP as non restricted. I think it must have been the clerk.

I have one on layaway at Wanstall I will get it when my job is finished im in camp so it has to what till i get home (357) I still wont a mares lag in 44 mag and full stock wish Garry wood get us sum with the full stock (full but stock .lever and that 12" barrel what a wicked bush rifle)

You'd have to check, but i'd bet a winchester 92 stock would fit with only a little bit of fitting. A gunsmith could likely do it for you pretty fast and cheap.

I just made last payment on the Chiappa Mare's Lag 357 mag takedown im having a small Teijicon put on it
Can't see like i did when i was younger haahaa old fart's and there toys!
i now have a Henry 22 mares lag and a Chiappa 357 mares lag sill wont a 44 mag

Carverk, It should be pretty easy to either drill and tap or silver solder a rail onto the flat of your barrel and then mount a small red dot.

Burris fast fire
Vortex Sparc
Aimpoint micro etc

The picture above is from a TV series.

Yeah we all get that 'getting old' thing.

I know all the part numbers for the rossi's but i don't know about the chiappa. I would suggest Can-down's got it right - turn it over to a gunsmith. he can likely either mount a small rail on your barrel, or i've seen guys have a small dovetail rail mount made for the dovetail that holds your rear sight. A little red dot there might well do the trick for you.

But - just a word of advice, before you go thru the expense borrow a cheap red dot from someone and tape it on there and see how it looks to you. Make sure it suits your eyes. I've heard lots of guys say a red dot solved some issues for them, but some guys didn't take to it as well.
