SKS with AR lower.....Yeah.....

Can you reload 7.62soviet ar magazines out of the rifle like you load .223 ar magazines via stripper clips?

Refine the idea, and I'll consider it. I rather not mod a vz58(I like the original magazines) to take ar mags, but an SKS to ar-type magazines, sounds Ok to me.

You could put a Lee Enfield mag on it too. It would also require modification.
Then it ceases to be a Lee Enfield magazine and becomes prohibited unless limited to five rounds. The goal is to use XCR pistol mags unmodified to achieve a legal ten rounds. Once you modify the mag in any way to work in a different gun it becomes "manufactured" for it and loses its former status as whatever it was originally built for.

If your line of reasoning is correct, I could weld up the hole in a M14 mag and use it as a 20 rounder in my AIA.

But I can't, because what it was made for originally is the key factor.

If you have a reference for your statement, I'd be very interested in reading it.

It would just have to still be usable in an AR-15 and you would be good to go

Thats how I feel, not saying anyone is wrong but would like to see where the RCMP stand on this.

Which is why you don't see mags like this at the range:

Apparently, mag mods are needed as well, and will not work with stripper clips.

Pls read the whole thread (this one), and the one on sksboards.

Won't work with stripper clips.

He's saying cost will be $190-225, so yeah, by the time you buy the adapter and a good amount of XCR pistol mags, you could buy two more SKS.

Then you have four mods to do on each of the mags.

If you want to drop your mags with the bolt closed, you must also mod your bolt (as always, this isn't specific to this mag adapter).

Seems like a lot of $$$ (compared to initial rifle price) and a bit of work, but how else do you get legal 10 round detachables in an SKS (side benefit: no duckbills)?

As far as modifying the magazines... wasn't there a thread about AIA mags being used in M14s?
Isn't the originally designed and manufactured purpose for the mag the only thing that matters?
Just going off the top of my head here, but I believe there were some good posts from Questar about this, in that AIA mag thread.

EDIT:
This thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=482879&highlight=AIA
Check out some of the posts by Questar, specifically #71, #84 and #86. I have no idea if there have been changes since mid-2010 when he made these posts, but it seems to suggest we'd be alright doing some mods to the mags. At least that's the way I understand what he was saying.

Legal disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, I don't even play one on TV. This "advice" is not advice, and it's only worth what you paid for it.

:D

I can't honestly see why anyone would go through all the work, time and money to develop this when Tapco (among others, I assume) already make a 20 round detachable mag.
