S&W 629 "Canadian Edition"

Did someone say 629 Mountain Revolver? ;)

I'm not a revolver guy at all, don't own any and know next to nothing about them. I would however like to own 1. I'd be all over a "Canadian" version of a 44 Magnum mountain revolver and would buy it without hesitation.

Did someone mention Moutain Lion Gun ? What is the unfluted cylinder's use....... it only defeats the purpose of shaving down the barrel and cylinder .

629 Mountain or Partial Lug

The Mountain Barrel or partial underlug standard barrel profile would be big sellers. The full underlug look is already available here in the 5" 629 Classic.
A real Canadian Mountain Gun with 4.2" barrel and a bead blasted matte finish.

I don't want one of those.....

I neeeeeeed one of those ;)

The wife always gets the 'want' and 'need' thing mixed up when it comes to guns :)

I'd slap my money down in a second for one of those

Well.... I heard a bit of news today. Not sure if it was at the bequest of North Sylva or Smith & Wesson using their own head to compete with Ruger, but..... S&W Model 629 Classic full underlug with 4.2" barrel coming out in July, 2012.

Fluted cylinder? I hope that it isn't, sure would look purdie with a smooth cylinder and a short barrel. Or, the best case scenario would be a factory option either way....:).

Factory Option? We are lucky we even get S&W here let alone a gun catered to our redunculous laws. AFAIK, it is the regular 629 Classic and appointments, but with the 4.2" barrel.

could it not just be ordered separately?

Well hope I win, SCREW the 3/4 underlug. Actually, I don't care, I don't mind the look, just like the rugers. Just as long as they come.

Where did you get the news?
:( full underlug
Maybe I'll look for a longer barreled 629 and have it visit the smith for a new shorter hair-do.
Either way I guess I have to start saving up...

Hey folks, found this picture of a Model 29 that was a custom build from S&W with a 4 1/2" barrel. They rave about the the nice proportions of the partial underlug and the barrel to frame proportions. I tend to agree, something like this in 4.25" Stainless 629 would be amazing. The bead blasted finish from the previous post I made would finish this off as a truly "Canadian" special run.
Thanks for bringing in the 4.2" 686 North Sylva. We appreciate the efforts by Dom and the guys.
