Here is what the barrel pimp Sean (Juanvaldez) built for me:

I finally got around to mounting this rifle into the AICS2.0 stock and then installed a Warne Tactical 0MOA base and also some TPS Steel rings (Low). As you can see, the light was falling and I had to shoot while I could. Have a look at 3 shots into my black patch at 100m.

It's not benchrest quality by any means, but it's more accurate than I can hold it. Jamie, you can look forward to your 2 builds!

Seems like there is a ton of 260 Remington Builds coming up on this forum recently.... especially exciting because I also have one to add! This will be my first break into precision work and I have the last bits of my realding setup on the way! I can't wait to start sending bullets down range.

My rifle basically consists of:

Stevens action
Shilen Select Grade SS barrel in 260 Remington
HS Precision stock ( like on the FCP)
Basix trigger which I am pretty happy with so far
Bushnell 10X ..... I know don't laugh but it seems good enough for now. I am afraid to look through something better I have spent a long time fighting off the voices in my head and they are slowly starting to win!

I think the key to this is the reloading so I have some Hornady custom grade dies and lupua brass on the way. I have some Hornady 140gr bullets as well as some Nosler competition 140gr HPBT and a pound of varget to burn through.

varget dont really seem to be the go to powder for the 260

H4350 and 4831sc are the most common

Alright, sounds good, Maybe I will try and sell some to a buddy. Why would you opt for your choices over Varget just out of curiosity and a learning sake?

alright fair enough, I guess it never hurts to work up a couple loads and see.
If nothing jumps out move on to something else!

Varget is better suited to lighter bullets in a 260, works well with 107gr SMK and should do well with 108 Scenars. For 123-142's I'd go H4350, H4831sc

In my .308 I am shooting one hole groups using varget and berger 155gr vld's. When I started 260 development I thought hmmm maybe varget will do the same. Then after searching for a start I found that it was predominately H4831 and H4350. I'm sure somebody here has the proper explanation, but the only thing I could deduce was that because of the smaller neck diameter there would be too much pressure before you reach ideal velocities?

Taking the advice of others I started development with H4831 and got completely discouraged. Could this be the savage that doesnt live up to its predecessors? I couldn't get a sub moa group to save my life. I switched to H4350 and wow, what a difference. It's a mild load of 42gr of H4350 with 140gr Berger VLD's but it is a nice ragged hole at 2748fps.
