For you guys who run/practise with your ARs with 22 conversions- what are you using? I might consider getting a 22 conversion for my NEA AR (when I get it....) in the future, but I'd want a good quality one, with a $1000 budget.

NEA will be releasing there AR22 upper later this year according to Dave's hint's. Might as well bug him with a PM or maybe he will chime in a bit to throw down a date.

I have the CCMG unit that replaces the BCG and it's decent but needs to be kept really clean or it gets unreliable.

You can buy a complete Chiappa 22LR flattop upper for around $450. I've seen used ones on the EE for around $300-$350.
I know Frontier sells these but there are probably others.

I've found the CMMG kits to be very good if properly maintained (soaked in oil), but the precision coming out of the barrel leaves much to be desired. It's hard to practice with the kit when you don't get either the same feel/recoil or the same precission as shooting 5.56.

I use the CMMG bolt replacement kit, got my from Arms East. It works fine in my Stag Arms, using Federal 525 bulk. Clean it every box and it works fine. Never had a failure because of the CMMG kit.

i've used the spikes conversion and it ran great, but then i wanted a .22lr barrel so I got a cmmg dedicated upper to put on my lower and its awesome.

I use the CMMG kit...
i dont see any issues with it, i regularly shoot 500-1000+ without cleaning inbetween, if I lube it its a drop on each rail, and no issues at all, runs .22 better then my rugar mk22-45 pistol

if you want one, buy it, best 250 you ever spent, EVER

I have a few of the original Colt conversion kits. Never had any problem with them. Colt Ace mags, for them, are a little hard to come by though.
