I've got an itch that needs to be scratched... gotta get a mid weight, classic caliber with LOTS of wood... I'm talkin' Mannlicher!

Open to any and all recommendations on make, model and caliber... I am thinking of something in the 7mm/08 class... Rich blueing and nice walnut... no pallet wood stocks... accent forend tips and grips caps a nice bonus...

Whatcha got for me? Links appreciated...
:)

My choice was a CZ 550 FS and I really like it.
Fit and finish is top quality, action is very smooth and the rifle is an excellent shooter.... check them out. :)

Have I got a deal for you, I have a CZ 550 FS in 7 X 64mm is that classic and classy enough for ya, PM me.

I too am a fan of that styling I have a rem mod 7 cutom shop MS in 7-08, I have the CZ550FS in 9.3 X 62mm, I have the Ruger 77 RSI in 308 and the afore mentioned CZ 7X64. I love the 9.3 and the Rem 7-08 balance and feel best.
I bought the 7X64 on a whim, stupid !! These are all nice quality full stocked guns and I would recommend anyone of them.

How about an original Mannlicher in 6.5X54 M-S?:)

Brno 22f - let the quest begin.

Sold mine last year, sweet little rifle but didn't feel comfortable to shoot.
Scope was German and sat way too high in the QD mounts in order to clear the bolt handle.... otherwise a very well made and nicely finished gun.
LOP with the double set triggers was about 15",a bit much for my short arms.

IMO nothing beats the Steyr-Mannlicher Luxus (pre-SBS) for that style of rifle. They were available in SL, S and M versions. It will be a bit of a chore to find one, but you can scratch that itch out of the USA - just have Clay import it for you. Another fine option is a Suaer 90 Stutzen.

The one thing I don't like about the 21H - and I have owned 3 and think they are great - is the requirement to mount the scope quite high.

Another neat full stock rifle that I forgot to mention is the Mauser 66 which, due to it's design, is very compact.

Lastly - unless something else comes to mind - is the Oberndorf Mauser Special Rifle Type A:

Thanks for the offer... but I want to stick with a more common caliber (available in Hornady SST)... I am currently out of reloading, although my son appears to be about to jump back in...

Will check out the Mauser 66... what are opinions on the Zastava M70 Mannlicher???

Well the Zastava is ok as a basic rifle, but comparing it to Steyr-Mannlicher, Sauer, Mauser etc is like comparing a Yugo to a BMW or Porsche!

;)I had a similar ich a while back. A friend had one and as he is now no longer able to use it, I decided to pick it up. It's a Sako A III in 270 Win.

Oh, by the way, nice Husqvarna tjhaile. Very nice.

When you have a "Yugo" paycheck... admiring all the pretty "Porsche's" doesn't put meat on the table... :D

Who said it had to be a repeater.

This is a break action single shot called the Brno Effect Lux....from CZ

Last year (2011) Sako came out with their Bavarian Carbine in the full length stock. Check out their web-site. The only dealer I know who carries them is the Italitian Sporting Goods in BC. Priced at about $2,400.00. Cooper just came out with one this year but I don't know the price...........probably around $2,500.00 I would guess.
