Just bought one on monday, cleaned it up and took it shooting. Why did it take so long for me to get one of these? What a fun gun and crazy cheap to shoot. I'll definately be buying more of these! I finally get it... SKS's rock.

Sks trigger

How's the trigger on yours? I like everything about mine except for the amount of trigger creep...

Hey all,
I purchased an unissued Chinese Sks just after Christmas and finally got to shoot it last Sun. The trigger was, very roughly, measured at just over 5lbs., fairly smooth, but way better than I ever expected. To shoot it was amazing!! Was told it was made in the late 70's or early 80's, don't know if that makes a difference but what a joy to shoot. Will shoot it some more as is then see if I really need a trigger spring kit.
Cheers!! :)

Here is me shooting my first SKS the other day that I bought back in early December from Marstar. I love it so far. I'm keeping this one stock... you never know what might happen if I buy another one though

I loved the M249 simply because of the fact I could never own one. I also fired an AR15 while I was there, what a smooth operating piece of machinery. It was nice. Wish I could buy a $49 SKS and have them accidentally ship me one of those :p

They will work on any SKS...
I think its the best 16 bucks I ever invested on a rifle :yingyang:

The springs on Gun Springs show as being 9 bucks for the set. What exactly is the process for replacing them? I've taken my trigger group out of my gun before but never messed with it or any of the springs in it. I've always been afraid that one would "Boing!" across the room into oblivion never to be found again

On a sticky from Courtton in this section "SKS45 FAQ..." at the bottom he has some trigger work links,I liked the one from john yooper:
www.yooperj.com/SKS-25.htm
He is good in explaining, and I have it done to mine, together with the 'empty pull shortening'...first try, full hit: my trigger breaks clean at 3.2pounds (was in the eights before) :D

For the short spring, you mush drive out one pin, remove the mag catch release, change the spring and put back the pin.

For the long spring, its a bit tricky.
There is alot of tension applied on this spring.
Be carefull !!!
The worst is not to remove it, its to put it back :p

Good luck !!!
