What would I need to do to import a complete M&P slide(slide, barrel, etc) from the states? I've talked to a guy in the states who is selling a couple and has no problem shipping here if its not to complicated.

The exporter must be registered with The (U.S. DOS) Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and the export must be licensed.

One example of such an exporter is Brownells. <http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=0/sid=859/schematicsdetail/MP-Semi-Auto->

In order for the registered exporter to apply for an export license, you will first need to get an IIC from DFAIT.

It sounds like he is talking about a private sale with a normal person. Not a business. Correct me if I'm wrong OP?

You are correct. This is a private sale with a person not a business. I know whats required if I was to order a barrel and such from Brownell's but how does it work for a private sale?

I am not quite sure to be honest. I know their is a $100 dollar limit on most gun parts though to be exempt from an export permit. Also, a slide is just a firearm part and not restricted as the frame is considered the handgun in Canada. I am sorry I cant be more help. I am sure someone else will chime in.

So in theory if we were to claim the $100 dollar limit for the slide we would only need paperwork for the barrel then? If so, what permits would we need to import a barrel?
