OK... I had to drop the young lad off at the ex's place today and I had enough time for 2 sets... so i decided to sneak them in.... I dropped the young lad off and I decided to hunt two creek beds on my property that have been productive in the past.... I went to the first one and it didn't pay off... not even a yelp / bark / nothing..... here is spot one....

Then, travelled south one concession and made my second stand... I put up the quiver critter and used my ecaller to do a howl cluster as well as my new Rabbit distress from Kerry at Carvers to call one in...

Here is what I was looking at... yes... I know... I was literally 12 feet off the county road where the snowmobiles pass.... it's rural and sees 5 cars a day.....lol

The yote cam down the creek bed as I suspected... but the problem was that he had two behind him... I shot him at 30 yards with my .223.... I was so exited that I broke this years drought that i didn't load up another shell... when I stood up ther were 3 standing off in the disatnce "observing".... took a step back and they all buggered off....

I have to admit that I would love to show you guys a 200 yard shot but it is what it is.... I am happy to break the drought.... this was a male and weighed in at 34 pounds....

For the last 5 years, i am seriously hunting them, when i am in Vankleek Hill i always have a 223 or my Icon 6.5 Creedmoor, got 2 this year near St-Bernadin, i guess they do follow them turkeys... JP.

no doubt they were here .... but this plentiful?

They were thin in the beginning.
I lived in Wainfleet when I was a kid and used to hear the odd one howl at night.. when I mentioned the howl to adults,.. mostly farmers, they denied the fact that they were coyotes, and said theres only fox around here.
I knew what I heard!..

Dont know where they came from but now I know they're here to stay and have changed the landscape forever.:(

I set up two stands yesterday morning, and called in 2 dogs, as well. Only came home with 1, though. One is better than none, and not a terrible way to spend a Saturday morning :D
