My gunpowder came in a box, not a can!

i once got 8 pounds of unique in a MAALOX bottle- i thought it was kind of humourous-i wouldn't use mason jars as these things have a habit of falling off a shelf onto concrete at the most inopportune time- just any wife that's done canning- usually there's wet, sticky mess to clean up- just like the guy that keeps in primers in a glass jar- basically, "accidents" waiting to happen
 
I would second the radical idea - leave it in the box!
I have kept and used powders from similar boxes for years. They store easily and are easy to identify.
Re-using containers runs the risk of contamination, and mislabelling. Don't use glass as it could break and the UV will do bad things to the powder.
Leave it in the box is my recommendation.
 
I am another guy who saves his old 1 lb and 8 lb powder containers.
I carefully peel the original label off them so I can relabel with the new powder number.
I use blank sticky labels that can be peeled off should I need the container for a different powder at a later date.

Great idea tootall, lets see for 8lbs of H322 i would need just over 2000 cases for my 204.:D You`ll need a lot fewer cases if you load H4831 in a big`ol mag case. Maybe take up loading the 50 bmg.:eek:
 
Glass is a really bad idea.
Recycled plastic containers that had anything greasy or oily in them might be a bad idea. Unless it can be guaranteed that the container has been absolutely cleaned.
I save and reuse all powder containers.
It is very important to insure that a container is thoroughly and accurately labelled.

I wholeheartedly second this!!
I personally have never had a mishap related to the wrong powder.
But I have a close friend who managed to destroy 3 rifles before he got a clue.

I got stuff that is 15 years old......perfect.....he uses heavy plastic bags,well marked W/lot number...All you have to do is invest in a nice twist tie:D
 
I keep my wc 735 stored in a black plastic 1 gallon atf jug after cleaning it VERY well with brake kleener from a can , let it air dry and you are good to go . I beleive that they even have the same triangle thingy identifying the type of plastic they are made from. I have been using mine for several yars and many boxes of powder with no ill effects.

For the BC folks was shipping expensive for say just 7-8 pounds of pwr?

Site says free shipping for 21# plus $25 haz fees so might have to load up if shipping is much. TIA.
