I had recently bought a CZ 858 and the issue I'm having is getting the striker to slide forward after popping the bolt back in.

I watched a few videos on Youtube on field stripping and re-assembling and noticed that the striker easily slides forward after the trigger is depressed. I field stripped it, cleaned it, and then re-assembled it but after popping back the bolt the striker wasn't slide forward, despite pulling and holding the trigger.

I can't recall how I got the striker to slide forward the first time I did this (this is the second time I've done this). Any advice?

Is your safety on?

Is the striker in the bolt carrier in the correct orientation?

With the bolt/bolt carrier out of the gun does the striker move easily?

Hmmmm.........

So, you put the bolt carrier in the gun and push it into battery. The striker remains on the sear, but when you pull the trigger you can't push the striker forward?

Have you tried to trip the sear manually?

Make sure that the trigger/sear pin retainer clip is not out of place. It's the small steel plate rivited to the inside right sidewall. If it's rotated up, the small tab on it can catch your striker.

.. Lastly, make sure your striker is not upside down in the carrier. I don't know how it happened but a recent thread on another forum had the striker somehow able to be installed upside down.

I think this is the issue. At the range on Sunday the rifle stopped firing after about 20 rounds. :/ I'll have to bring it to a gunsmith to take a look.

You shouldn't need a smith. The plate rotates to allow disassembly of the trigger group. It just needs to be in the "locked" position that retains the selector.
