SKS with AR lower.....Yeah.....

So this piece will be $200 usd via the sksboards link provided.
Assuming he will send to canada....plus shipping of course.

I read that thread and it seems AR mags will fit, but what about the 10 round XCR mag?
I apologize I am by no means a Modern Military and Black Rifle guru.
I have no idea what will fit and what wont.

XCR Mags are $30 cnd a piece here.....

Seems like it will be quite a bit to spend on a cheap rifle.
But.......can you put a price on fun factor?

modifying an SKS is usually throwing money at fun with little to no return in resale value so if doubling mag capacity to triple or quadruple fun is what a guy wants than its money well spent.

I would spend $200 to be able to use a full stripper clip, personally. It would be nice, and that to me is worth it. I like the speed of loading using a full stripper clip.

I know this mod currently doesn't allow use of stripper clips, but if it did I would buy it.

Considering the price of AK mags and an SKS-d, it might fly.
Never seen a sks-d under $500 in the EE, so $75 for a sks in marstar's various deals + a couple hundred for the mod + mags would put you well under the price of a SKS-d and magazines.

OK guys, since im into making a mag adapter too,i had some issue and i did contact the RCMP with the issue.

And the answer is what i was expecting.

You see the front mag need to be cut to fit the SKS,well sorry to bring the bad news but you cant modified the LAR 15 to fit another rifle, and i got this from the RCMP firearms technician.

If you can modify a 5 round rifle magazine and it is still legal after modification, then why can't you modify a 10 round pistol magazine and expect it to still be legal?

I tend to think you can't modify any magazine, because then it is no longer in its approved form. It's essentially a different magazine and would have to be re-evaluated by the CFC, no?

You can take any approved (unregulated) magazine, put any ammo in it that will fit, and use it in any firearm as long as you can make it work without modifying the magazine. But I'm pretty sure you can't modify any magazine because it would become a prohibited device.

As far as pinning a pistol magazine to 5 rounds after modifying it, why? As long as it is still purported to be a pistol magazine, then 10 rounds is the legal limit. What gun you eventually use it in is not governed by any regulation. However, as I've said, I don't think you can modify a magazine, at all.

You can modify a magazine all you want and put it wherever you want... theres no problem with that as long as its pinned to 5 rounds in a rifle.

This seems SO hard for people to understand but its really quite simple. A magazine DESIGNED for a rifle MUST be pinned at 5. Doesnt matter WHAT you put it in or use it in or modifications you make. Because its original design was as a rifle magazine its limited to 5.

A pistol magazine (like the LAR mag) can hold 10... doesnt matter what you put it in... it can always hold 10 rounds. BUT, you can NOT modify it. If you modify a 10 round pistol mag to fit in your rifle it has now been "re-manufactured" (albeit, by you) as a rifle mag and is therefore limited to 5.

This is why the comment of wanting an adapter that takes a NON modified pistol mag is always coming up. The ONLY way you can hold 10 rounds in a rifle is with a NON modified pistol magazine. The adapter in question here does us canadians NO good at all if more rounds are what your looking for.

Okay, what if you modify a 10 round pistol magazine and you want it to fit in another pistol? Are you required to pin it to 5 rounds because it's been modified?
