Looking to get myself a new bullpup toy :) I've narrowed down to two, Tavor and RFB.

Might take it hunting once in the blue moon and occasional range trips. Mostly will be reserved for SHTF scenario lol.

I'm not too concerned about the cost of .308 vs .223 but my biggest concern is reliability.

Cheers

If its shtf, my rfb as ben 100% reliable with all the ammo I trown at it 5+ brand from 147gr. To 180gr. Also in shtf 308 is easyer to find imo

I wanted a tavor for a long time ,but then I saw the rfb in 308 I decided to get one and give it a try because the way they were selling on EE i wouldn't lose much money if any if I decided I did not like it. After taking it to the range and hunting I most likely will never sell this gun which is saying a lot since I like trading guns like underwear.

I'd pick the Tavor. It will be far less expensive to feed and I would expect it to have superior long-term reliability. Tavors are in service with the IDF and have been exported to a few other countries. The RFB is a hobby rifle made by a company that doesn't have a very good reputation for quality.

get the tavor.

- it has better build quality
- it is battle tested.
- it is a wee bit lighter in weight then the RFB
- it is a little bit shorter in over all length then the RFB
- it can use 10 round mags where the RFB cant.
- the .223 round is cheaper then a .308.
- the .223 round is a better all around bullet to kill many types of animals with. it can take anything down from deer to rabbits. have you ever shot small game with a .308:eek:

+1 for the tavor

I seriously doubt that, .223 is used by all of our govt agencies and is sold in bulk quantities at gunstores, .308 is more available at your yahoo local hunting shop but is minimmal quantities.

Yes, 308 has more stopping power

I go and say Tavor all the way.

How is .308 easier to find? I would definately saw.223 is way easier to find, even in shtf scenario.

if its a shtf gun, then obviously its the tavor. Its military hardware so you can be sure that its going to be at a minimum reliable and durable. Not sure the RFB would be as much.

Also since its a 223, you'll be able to carry more and shoot more. If you watched Magpul Art Of Precision Rifle, Travis does talk about the end-of-the-world gun and how he would have chosen a 223 instead of a 308 simply because its lighter, cheaper and is still very effective all around.

Eitherway, if you're looking for a gun that you're life would potentially depend on then you'll need something reliable which means milspec which leaves out the obvious.

If you live in northern N-B its alot easyer ti find then 308...... I guess it really boils down to what you want, quantaty or stopping power!

I can't comment on the RFB since I've never seen it in real or handled it.

Quantity with quality would be my choice, so .223.

Note: You did mention SHTF for ammo thats why I responded. I know there is a few armouries in the area, RC's are going to be issued C8 Carbine soon, Corrections Canada at you know where have AR15's, so you understand where I'm going with this vs 2x boxes of .308 at your local gunshop. :p In SHTF scene, the unimaginable is possible.
