Man this pisses me off! My VERY first gun (a glock 17) and I get a lemon. I've only taken it to the range twice. The first time I shot 180 rounds. The second time out I shot 100 rounds and had 3 misfires. That can't be right! I thought the glock was supposed to be this super reliable gun?

Glocks are no different than any other gun, they are mechanical devices. If there is something wrong mechanically get it fixed. If it is ammo, change ammo and if it has been "improved" with aftermarket parts ...well welcome to owning guns. We usually take a perfectly working stock gun and improve upon it's design until it won't function. Even Glock managed that with their Gen 4 guns.

Take Care

No kidding...How can you tell that Glocks are built by Austrians and not Germans?

They improved the design until it stopped working. If they were German, it would still work perfectly, they would have simply improved the design until it no longer made any f**king sense. But the engineering involved would be really impressive!

I would also have accepted "the trigger would have about a half inch of travel".

Limp-wristing can cause ANY semi to misfeed:kickInTheNuts:...

Even more so with a Glock proper grip works wonder. I say this from experience went from a 1911 to a Glock, and was ready to toss it till a fiend that shot Glocks a lot showed me how to hold it. No problem in the last 5 years

If Glock was German it'd be overpriced and that's about it! ;)

Love my gen4 Glocks

Gen 4's are fine, needed some tweeking i guess (had no problems with mine and it was an early gen 4) but they still work fine! I had a few FTF's when I was breaking mine in during the first 300 rounds..it happens just as with any other firearm. Put a few hundred more rounds through it and if the issues persist then you may have an actual problem.

if it's German made SIG/H&K then you've paid for what you get....high quality and top craftmanshift !
overpriced is the Glock sold for civilians market.
try to find out how much cost a Glock sold in bulk for gov. contracts

Every new pistol has a break-in period, also some ammo will cause some malfunctions. So will a dirty gun... I find my pistols to be quite dirty after 100-150rds.

Glocks are great pistols...but most people don't realize just how lousy other guns really are.

I can talk quite a bit about the issues with Glocks...but they are still one of the best bets.

The issues with the Gen 4s are well documented: extractor, ejector, and RSA at a minimum. There may also be slide geometry problems. Some run fine; some run fine up to 4000-5000 rounds then begin to fail; some do not run at all.

Gen 3 9mms are some of the most reliable handguns ever built.

Only prob with gen 4s was the recoil spring issue, which has been fixed with newer models, my G17 Gen 4 functioned as well as my G17 RTF2.
