My very first gun and it's a lemon.

if it's German made SIG/H&K then you've paid for what you get....high quality and top craftmanshift !
overpriced is the Glock sold for civilians market.
try to find out how much cost a Glock sold in bulk for gov. contracts

Yea; then find out what (fill in the blank) government pays for fleet vehicles....the average joe can't buy a brand new(model inserted here) for $11,000 cnd. Unless of course your buying 500+ units, then they'll talk. Same for guns or anything else for that matter.

Misfires of this type are rare - even if a pistol is held with 2 fingers, it should ALWAYS fire (it might not reliably cycle, but you should always have one bang). Anything less is not acceptable for a defensive pistol. I have seen Glocks do wierd things, I've held 2 that went KaBoom, and owned one that just broke - but every last one went bang, even the one that was broken would let you get one round off. Take apart the pistol, strip the slide and make sure the striker channel is perfectly dry - Glocks have been known to 'hydraulic' or 'pump' with lubricant or cleaner in the striker channel. Clean it, blow it out with compressed air and DO NOT lube the striker. Then take the gun shooting.

How people can blame limp wristing for light primer strikes is beyond me. Strip the slide and see if there is anything blocking the firing pin. Clean it all and put it back together. Then shoot it some more.

Come on Rob just use your imagination.....:D

Sure glad I watched that video made by a guy who knows a friend who works at Glock. Hate to rely on what misanthropist said. He probably doesn't know anyone who works for Glock.;):p

Take Care

Yes you are correct.

But remember when the 'gubment' buys fleet vehicals they do not come with ANY factory warrenty. Factory recalls are another matter........

Personally If I could buy a 2012 F-150 XLT ext cab 4x4 for 22K with-out any warrenty I would jump at it!

Shoulda bought a 1911..:nest::D

I would have thought you would recommend something German or Austrian.

OP. Your gun is obviously garbage. I will take it for spare parts, at an appropriate price. Mine has never misfired, FTE, FTF, or any other issue in the years I've owned it, even when limp wristed by my senior mother-in-law. Either your gun is broken, new, or you got some crappy ammo (which is more likely, I've had terrible remington thunderbolts .22lr before)

If it's a Glock, then it's not a lemon.

There are two potential problems here:

1) The shooter. As you say this is your first gun, you probably just need to work on your technique. It will come in your first thousand rounds or so.

2) The ammunition

End.

Nice. If you have no idea what you are doing you can make any system fail.

7 pages of guessing cause the OP didn't bother to provide details nor pics. Well once upon a time I bought this firearm that didn't work so all firearm are junk...

It's a brand new gun Gen 4 Glock 17. I cleaned the gun before my first outing using Ballistol but I didn't lube it because there was still brand new copper colored grease on the slide. I went out to the range the second time very shortly after my first outing and didn't clean it (like I said I put 180 rounds through the first time). 3 times, on the second time out, I would get a click and nothing...I then tapped and wracked and a live round would eject. I plugged these rounds back in later and used them (though it may be bad ammo because it's the cheapest American Eagle 147 gr FMJ flatnose). I'm using it as practice for Winchester Ranger SXT 147 gr JHP.

American eagle is fine for all purpose, try look at the fire-pin channel to see if there are any dirt, grit or grease, it should be clean without oil or grease.

Very true, Guy at Police Ordnance told me this as well, he sees it all the time as a common problem with missfires. People allow too much oil to get into the fireing pin channel causing problems.

Read the manual and apply the 6 drops of oil and this issue is no longer an issue. You could just run some grease on the rails and lightly coat the barrel then there's no risk of oil working its way into places it shouldn't be.

Every new pistol has a break-in period, also some ammo will cause some malfunctions. So will a dirty gun... I find my pistols to be quite dirty after 100-150rds.

My SIG p220 didn't have a break in period. 100% reliable from round 1 to 2000'ish

zero misfire even with 4# firing pin spring on my Gen4. Unless OP comes up with pics/details soon thread should be locked for slandering.

I read on the Glock forum that many new ones come from the factory with oil or grease in the striker channel and is is supposed to be dry.
