Mesa Tactical Urbino Stocks

Just thought I'd share some pics of the Mesa Tactical Urbino Stocks. I have two here; One on a Benelli M2 and the other on an 870. Both of these stocks are the version with the adjustable cheek riser. The riser is easily removable with out tools but I found that on the lowest setting (pictured), it provides a good cheek weld and does not interfere with the use of the lower iron sights or front bead. It is important to note that Mesa does offer a stock without the riser but if you decide you need one later, you will have to buy a whole new stock as they are not the same base.

Both the M2 and 870 versions are very easy to install and include Benelli style sling plates for up to 1 1/4" slings. There is also an optional sling loop plate that installs at the back of the shotguns receiver in place of the plastic spacer that is visible in the photos.

The stocks have a 12" length of pull and include a limbsaver recoil pad to lessen the blow of those heavy loads.

I think this stock system is one of the best I have seen. Very impressed with it so far. It seems very solid and well made. After a 1k or so rounds I'll see if that changes. I suspect though that it will stand up to quite a lot of abuse.

I got mine (870) from DS Tactical. They shipped via FedEx the same day and I got the stock the next afternoon. Out of all the places I've found that were dealing these stocks, they had a good price and as usual they offer a 10% Mil/LE discount.

That 870 is the bee's knees. I want to replicate that exact one, minus the paint job.

That one is my personal gun. I know the paint job is a bit harsh now but it looked OK when I initially did it. It was such a long time ago that the only thing original left on the gun is the magazine tube!

- Some better sights. I'm tossed up between simply getting an XS Tritium front sight that fits over my bead or going all out and getting a set of LPA or Vang Comp sights.

- IWC Mount-N-Slot QD Sling Cup (For Urbino Stock)

Thanks! I wish it was mine. It's funny you should say that, I thought the same thing as soon as I plucked it out of the case. What a light gun. I used to have an M4 and I do remember it being heavier. Hell, even the short 870 is feels heavier!

I do like the M4 telescopic stock and M4 trigger better

I wish they made a M4 style M2

My two beefs with the Urbino is the way the buttplate attaches and the rubber grip "which can be swapped out with the benelli atleast"

The grip I can understand. It is a little square at the rear. Even Mesa admits that they don't like it and will be designing something new.

Why don't you like the butt plate attachment?

I find it abit flimsy "pull on it" I wish they would of used screws to attach it.

Fully understand now. There is even a little up and down movement in the plate. I don't think it would be too hard to fabricate a new back plate that would secure with screws...of course you would have to fill the rear of the stock with some material for the screws to go into. Might be an easier project to chop down an original Benelli factory stock.
