So i dont know what i was thinking but i put a primer in backwards, the casing only has the primer in it, no powder or bullet but the primer is upside down. Should i just use my depriming tool? Im a little worried about it setting off the primer as it is a needle like deprimer.
 
Yes, use your deprimer/resizer. You are not creating an impact so don't sweat it. Do it slow and use common sense. No powder near by, wear glasses.

You could deactivate the primer (was told soaking in WD40 works) then remove the primer. Wear your safety glasses just in case. Or just scrap that piece of brass and move on to the next one.
 
Unless it is a rare piece of brass, toss it. All the warnings to wear safety glasses should be an indication of the danger involved.

I've done this dozens of times with no ignition, most dies have a vent hole to allow for some of the gas to escape the die at low-pressure,
about the worst that could happen would be a busted decapper and a loud noise (very unlikely if your slow)
 
Anybody ever hear of a primer going off when de-priming a live primer? And while it's possible to have it happen on a correctly seated primer because theoretically you could still pinch the priming compound between the cup and anvil, what would the anvil press against in a primer that was seated backwards? Nothing, that's what. So unless you actually slam the case into the depriming die, the chances of it going off are somewhere between extremely remote and extremelier remoter.
