Over the decades I have slowly gravitated toward double guns for range and field. I now have a suitable OU or SXS for all of my shot gunning needs - except one: the southern Ontario shotgun only deer hunt. I can't find a suitable double to fill that niche.

So, if I happen to fall into a pile of money, here's the shotgun I would have custom built:

- Ruger Gold Label SXS action
- 28" 20 ga. rifled barrels (perfectly regulated, of course)
- pistol grip stock (perfectly fitted to me, of course)
- 2.5 lb. trigger pull
- iron sights

A classy, functional double shotgun for putting venison in the freezer. Crazy? Maybe. But it would be cool.

If you had money lying around for a custom made shotgun, what would it be?

Since H&H make both double shotguns and double rifles, I guess they would do a fine job on the 20 ga. double shotgun with rifled barrels that I want. I could live with that. Now I just need to find that pile of money.

I saw in a gun mag a 3 barreled 410. It was stunning ill have to see if I can find the makers name

I've seen an ad for a purdy 410 it was 295000 weird symbol I think means pounds. It was in a uk ad I think

Since being taken over by the French perfume maker Chanel Holland and Holland has become more of a high-end fashion house. IMO their guns are not what they once were.

With unlimited funds I'd be going here.

In a "money no object new gun" I'm partially with you Claybuster.

DMB builds some amazing shotguns.

However, F Rizzini is right up there. And then there is Peter Nelson, who is in kind of a class all his own. Lifetime output labeled Peter Nelson approx 80 guns. Total number of clients at last check 7. Cost per gun $200k and up.

No argument about Nelson. But as I recall his output is all spoken for and he's not getting any younger.

Bringing our imaginations down to earth a more affordable means to order a custom gun is Spain. It is possible to travel to Eibar, visit the custom makers and order a gun, made to your specifications for about the same price as some ATVs, snowmobiles or bass boats. Not cheap but not out of reach. I've done it and it was a grand adventure.

Absolutely right Claybuster. I almost added that point but then thought "why dash the dream". LOL I think in fact he may be about to retire.

Like many of us I scour the online marketplace, here, the US and England. On line sites, auction houses etc. Have never seen a Nelson come up for sale! If anyone else has, I would be interested in hearing about it.
