Not sure about the load data but there might be info on the Henry big boy out there as it has been around longer. We do have 1 in stock at this time and a few people have been intrested in it.

Best regards,
Scott

Rossi makes a 44 mag henry only makes 22lr and 45lc. The 45 lc is the same blastics as a 44 mag..

The following was taken from Chuck Hawks website :

Traditional factory loads for the .45 Colt drive a 250 grain lead bullet at a MV of about 860 fps and ME of 410 ft. lbs

The original Remington factory loads for the .44 magnum advertised a 240 grain SWC lead bullet at a muzzle velocity (MV) of 1470 fps and muzzle energy (ME) of 1120 ft. lbs.

The SAAMI maximum average pressure for the .45 Colt is 14,000 psi. The .45's big case, which actually has somewhat greater capacity than the .44 Magnum case, is also why so many shooters/reloaders have (falsely) assumed that it can safely be "magnumized." But this is not the case, as the big .45's pressure limit is nowhere near magnum levels.

Not too sure about that. Most reloading books have "blackhawk and T/C" only loads listed. 250 gr at 1300fps ain't nonthing to sniff at.

The information I posted is accurate. It also does not take into account loads that are safe in Marlin lever actions. Do you think a brass frame Rossi is up to the pressure ?? On the other hand, it is able to withstand .44 Magnum pressure. I think the manufacturer should be contacted to see if they will warrantee a Magnum loaded .45LC. No use arguing about it.

I've got a rossi in .44 Mag and all I can say is holy hell, every time I shoot it. And that's with light loads.

FWIW the Rossi is available in .454 Casull, which is basically a lengthened, hopped up .45 Colt.

.45 LC is not .45 Colt.

.45 Colt and .45 Long Colt are the exact same cartridge.

From Wikipedia

"The .45 Colt cartridge is a handgun cartridge dating to 1872. It began as a black powder revolver round developed for the Colt Single Action Army revolver, but is offered as a magnum level handgun hunting round in modern usage. This cartridge was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1873 and served as the official US military handgun cartridge for 19 years. This cartridge is often referred to as the ".45 Long Colt", because there was a ".45 Short" also available in the 1880's."

That is good news ! I would love to have a magnum level .45 LC in a Mares Lag. I would only do it if Rossi would sanction those loads though. Speculation and guesswork will not buy me a new face.
