hi guys i was woundering what you carry when you go out into the woods. i take my ruger 77/44 with 44spl and 44magnums, i take my favorite knife the esee 4, phone, gps, titanium kubaton, and finally a smaller fixed blade knife the blackjack necker. WBY?

A compass, knowledge of the lay of the land, a lighter or matches, and a rifle if I'm in bear country (usually a 300 win mag if its grizzly country)...food and camping equipment if its for an extended amount of time.

compass
water
snack, depending on duration of trip.
knife
fire
rifle or shotgun, depending on what comes to hand.

And the skills of Tarzan, of course.:D

Two means of starting a fire, a compass, a fixed blade and a folding knife. If I'm going to be out for more then a few hours water and maybe snacks. A hat, boots and a mosquito headnet if required. My fishing rod or hunting gun, otherwise if I'm in the mountains a shotgun.

I bring a few things, but only really hate to forget one thing; toilet paper.

I am minus a few T-shirts based on my habit of TP forgetfullness....

As for what I carry:

Rifle / bow / shotgun
Small pack with lunch / Thermos / Water
GPS
Compass

This first aid / emergency pack which fits easily in front pack pocket and has firestarting stuff as well as basic first aid items and backup batteries for my ecaller and red dot sight on my turkey gun:

Tabacco and rolling papers, if I'm going in the bush with a smoker.
I don't smoke, but there's nothing worse than being with someone who does, that has run out.
If you've ever been out in the middle of the lake fishing,
with someone who dropped their smokes in the water,
you'll know what I mean.
Even just having rolling papers has saved the day for my friend with a nicotine fit.
It's amazing what these desparate people with roll'n'smoke.:D

TP high on the list!!
Compass
Good fixed blade knife AND a good folder.
Means of starting a fire
Rifle
Ammo
Whistle
If out more than 2-3 hours, a snack and water.
Eagleye.

u southern boys don't carry bug spray

I grew up in Manitoba and I truly understand that statement!

Why carry what you can apply before you leave camp?

Spoken like someone without mosquitoes...

That's one of the other "few things", in July in the north you'll live longer with 50ml of bug spray than 5L of water.

Yup. I carry it, but find I don't need to use it nearly as much as I do when I go to Manitoba... Those bugs are vicious!
