Laminate or not the laminate, That is he question. Sfrc has both sks and I can't decide. I like both. Have a 51 so I figured get one close in years for parts or so I don't have to learn new ways to clean and assemble it.

How did you decide?

They all have the same parts regardless of what year they were made (except for small details like chromed bore or not).

As long as you are going to leave it stock, I vote Laminate. Much prettier.

I have a laminate and solid birch stock, I find the laminate stock fits very tight, and feels very solid, seems like it might hold up better to wet conditions too. I'd really like to refinish both with a few coats of oil, I think a refinished birch stock would probably be my pick though.

mine is laminate and i like the look of it, but ive also seen very nice hardwood ones i liked just as much.

both might be the only answer here:D

I'm not 100% on this, but I think laminate stocks are not original and are all force matched during the refurb process where as hardwoods are original (unless otherwise force matched).

Basically it's all to taste though as long as the barrel is in nice shape.

Here is what I tell people; If you are planning on replacing the stock then get if birch, if not get the laminate. 75% of people tell me they are replacing the stock so why spend the extra money on the laminate.

Some of the last 55/6 Tulas came with Laminate stocks from arsenal, the rest started with hardwood stocks. Buy what you like - I prefer a nice hardwood, but will pay extra to get a rarer variant like a 53 Izzy if its only in laminate.

Nope....my 54 Izzy had hardwood {I know because of the handguard} and on arsenal refurb it got a new laminate stock (that's all that was changed) only one ser # that matches the rest of the rifle.
