1/2" hole clear through and no damage. Less damage than even my old 243

Nice! What was the distance? Where was the hit? Did the deer go far? And... Wait for it... Did ya need a second shot?

Cheers

Awesome post ! Excellent picture ! And Thanks for sharing, very timely.
Is that an ATRS rifle, along with all other details requested can you share your load info ?
Again ,Thanks !

I would guess, and it is only a guess that a big heavy bullet like that is going to leave less energy in the animal than a fast expanding 7mm or 7.62mm bullet traveling at high speed.

Like he said less damage than his .243 , maybe the big 5 Ohhhh is the new meat saving chambering.;)

I was thinking the same thing when I read the other thread. A big hole, thru and thru, lots of umph and very little lead contamination.......I like it!

The shot was only about 150 yds and it ran in a loop for about a total of 80 yds. The bullet is in the hillside behind where it was standing. It is a mule deer doe and it does look like a wolf in the picture. The load is a 750 gr amax and only 230 grs of us869 and cci primer and military brass. The rifle was made in Belgrade Montana and is owned by my cousin and her boyfriend. I've shot deer with my 458 and it saves meat also.

And who was is in Parliament that said hunters don't use "big scary guns" to hunt with?

I think he needs to be sent this picture!

Nice job, by the way!
