A 300 meter gongshow!:D

I decided to strip this pig down and run it as light as possible from now on.
I had my brand new 12" AR500 gong from cgn'er Matt Moser to try out and 300 meters felt about right for it. The Fig 11 and 12's get a bit boring after a while:cool:

It took a few rounds to get on target with the No.3 drum (no spotter and forgot the binos at home). Hitting off to the right.

2 left, 2 down. Getting better.

1 right, 1 up. Bingo! Center.

These rifles are so easy to work with. The sights are second only to those of the M1 Garand and M14. And yes I did miss a shot here and there:D

Thats freakin awesome! :) I am getting one very soon myself. I was debating flat top for a scope or sights. I was leaning towards flat top but that green looks sweet! Darn it. Back to deliberating again.

How were you shooting the rifle .... prone position off the pickup bed?

I see you took the bipods off. Is it that useless?

How did u get the gong up that high?

Bipod is acceptable, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

From prone I was hitting a 10" group on steel at my 450 yard gong last weekend, they are just awesome rifles.

Happy shooting with it, they are a real treat to use, and every piece and tiny part is designed smarter and with more thought and purpose then 98% of rifles on the market today.

Yes prone resting on magazine. I find I get the most consistent results off the mag with nothing touching the front of the rifle so not big on the bipod. I'm 6'1" with arms like a monkey so I can reach;)

I get similar results to Kevin M with an Acog, all inside the Fig 12 circle at 425 yards.

What's the sight picture like with irons at 300m on a 12" target? Are you sighted to float the target above the front sight? I would think it would be tough to see holding on target.

Actually, he's made it a bit easier using the 300m distance. The 400m diopter hole is actually marked with a red 3 and the expected green/white 4. This marking is for reminding the shooter that a 6 O'clock hold on the standard swiss competition target at 300m is possible with the 400m diopter. Makes target shooting in swiss competitions easier :) I tried to find a picture on google, but no luck.

It is hard to see it clearly at that distance and the woods made it appear darker than usual. Had to really focus to see that post sharp. I was holding center of the target, fuzzy half moon of yellow above the post. Sight black is a must with this thing (gray painted front sight).

Cancer: I used the White 3, center hold. Target did not appear crisp enough to use the 6 O'clock hold due to the darkness in the woodline. I much prefer the 6 O'clock hold though.

Nice Rifle, Nice shooting. I'd be interested in seeing a picture of the irons set-up if anybody's got one. Is yours a "target" version?

Below is my exact sight picture, my nose lightly touches the rear sling loop.

"Weiss 3" White 3. The Swiss zero on this setting at 30m with front post center of bullseye to be on for 300m shooting with a center hold on the target.

"Rot 3" Red 3. This is for shooting at 300m using a 6 O'clock hold on the target.

"Weiss 4" White 4. This is the 400m aiming mark with a center target hold.

The black insert. This screws out which allows the drum to accept the adjustable diopter unit (Irisblende) used for competition shooting. The black insert is also taken out for low light/night shooting so the tritium front post can be flipped up and easily seen through the enlarged aperture.

Target versions are flat top pic rails, no diopters just backup sights. Mine is the standard rifle. I'll put this in the SA Sticky up top as well.
