hi there
sold my 597's,new to 10/22's, would like to build a lightweight, for grouse and backpacking, compact and accurate, prefer weather resistant, SS reciever and maybe carbon barrel? All advice appreciated and suggstions on where to find parts, will keep eyes on EE
the lighter the better, have Leupold ultralight looking for a home
don't need any comments about getting in shape, pack about 60lbs up and down west coast mountains every day at work, wan't to enjoy my hikes, not be reminded of work
cheers

I am thinking either this K10/22RBPBTC (black synthetic stainless carbine) or this 10/22-CRR (compact) but purchase a polymer stock after to replace the wood. Unfortunately the compact does not come in stainless. Both have there pros/cons black synthetic stainless carbine already has a polymer stock and is stainless, but will be a bit heavier because of the 18 inch barrel. The compact will definitely be lighter after you put a polymer stock on it due to its shorter barrel, just sucks it there is no polymer option but wood only.

I wanted the same as you so i built this one. It still needs a different scope and I didn't like the red dot i had on it. Not sure about weight but it would be right around 5 lbs.

We all have our favorite .22 semis, this is mine...and is 4.5lbs.

Most of the weight is in the barrel of course, but it's an accurate rifle, compact, and has a great finish on the steel~unlike my Savage rimfires. I'm sure you've considered it. Lots more toys available for the 10/22 of course, but I sold mine shortly after getting it. Love the 795 though.

As far as stock goes... Get a butter creek folder, folds up nice and small, and still pretty rigid, that mixed with a 16" carbon barrel will give u a super light super small backpacker.

If these terrifying-looking .22s ever make it up here, they'd be worth a look too. 4 lbs!

AR-7 by Henry. 2.5 lbs. The trigger and barrel fit into the stock. The total length it 16.5" when everythings in the stock.
For size and weight, nothing will bet this! Plus when you start moding a 10/22 it can effect group size. The AR-7 is as is from factory.
Just my 2 cents!
