Well I am getting back into reloading as soon as I get the gear together. Years ago I had the basic gear and loaded some pretty accurate ammo.
Other than the main items like press, trimmer, scale, powder measure and trickler, I want to focus these questions on the specific die setups.

I plan on loading for 223, 22-250 and 243 and may reload some 308 for my son. The 243 is going to be my deer hunting rifle so I was thinking about a Redding 2 die set. The 22-250 is a varmit rig heavy barrel gun but will also get some bench time. The 223 is a Savage 12 BVSS that will mostly be used on the range on a bench. I was thinking about Redding 3 die set for these two calibers and mostly neck size or can I just buy the neck size die and bullet seating die? I especially want the most accuracy from these two, I mean I want them all accurate but these two more so.

I have heard alot of talk about the Lee collet die, not sure what it does and dies that seat the bullets straighter(not sure the proper term)
So what is my best way to go so that I don't have stuff I don't need. I am just not sure what all these (new?) dies do and what I really need.
If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated, what would work the best for me? Thanks for your help. Cheers Roscoe
 
your fine to go with just a neck size die and seater if all the brass your using was fired out of the same rifle it will be used in after loading otherwise you will need to full length size. i also recommend full length sizing for anything used in automatics. neck sizing will get you the best accuracy but the brass must be form fired before neck sizing will properly chamber. i neck size all my rifle calibers except 223 (because its used in a semi) with redding dies and get amazing accuracy and in my opinion i cant imagine anything lee makes coming anywhere close to redding.

Lee Collet Dies

I truly believe Lee loading equipment should be sold by the pound or kg.

The exception is the Lee collet die. They work great, no forced push to size and zero cartridge stretching. Redding competition dies are not as good as Wilson and Neil Jones dies.
 
So is a Lee collet die the same as a neck sizeing die? Also is there a die that could deprime the 3 calibers I listed in my first post?
 
Any universal decapping die will deprime all those cases I recommend the hornady universal decapping die it is built much better the the lee I have had lee send me three replacements and still break after about 1000 decaps but the hornady I now use has went well over 5000 without a problem
