What can a 30 Rem be rechambered to.

Gun in question is a Rem 760.

I know FA about this type of thing.

Thanks.

6.8 SPC should work, if you're action is strong enough. I'm thinking about re-chambering/barreling a Remington model 8 from .30 Remington as well, so my ears are up on this thread. 6.8 may be too much for my gun, however.

What is the issue? Worn bore? or you just want a different chambering?

A limiting factor here is the 30 Rems .421 rim diameter.

You might have to buy a bolt with a different rim diameter, and have it fitted, or have your current bolt modified if that's possible.

Plus is the 760 was made in a lot of different cartridges.

Depending on the chosen cartridge you may need new mags as well.

A 760 in 30 Rem. Nah. It won't take a re-chambering. Better just send it to me and I'll find you one in a different calibre! Seriously though, if you have a 760 in 30Rem I'd like to see a picture. Never seen one. All other calibres, yes, but not 30.

A rem 760 in 30 Rem????? I would be interested in taking that off your hands....PM me pics please...

Saw them in 300 Sav, but never in 30 Rem....

I'd leave it as a 30 Remington,..buy a set of dies and a bag of brass and enjoy.

From where? There is only one company who makes .30 Remington brass, and by all accounts it's garbage. The only viable option is turning the rims/bases of a 30-30, and that is an incredible pain.

Interesting thing, is this list from Remington of the cartridges it was chambered in:

Yes. It is an easy job to rechamber to 358 Winchester. Seen several of them, and they all worked fine.

Supercub on here had one a few years ago, and sold it to a big game guide up here for a backup rifle. I know the guy, and he is still using it.

John Y Cannuck: Thanks for the caliber dates list. However, if a caliber is listed, does that mean it was the first year or only that year. I have a 760 in 308 with carbine and rifles barrels. The list would imply that the rifle and both barrels would have been made in
1957 which I do not believe to be the case. Just curious. Thanks.
