Has anyone tried the Promag Archangel stock on a shorty barreled M305? I saw a regular length M305 in the stock and it looked ok, just wanted to know if the shorty was too short.

i had my 2009 m14 shortened to 18.75" and then i put it into an archangel stock. it looks great! sorry no pics yet. just a few more things to add and then i will post.

If it is a new Shorty from Canam it will fit but after a fair bit of stock work.My Shorty from CanAm has a slightly smaller receiver so when fitting it to my USGI fiberglass or my Archangel stock quite a bit of material must be removed from under the trigger pads and trigger guard. . Remove a little at a time and the same amount from both areas to keep the trigger group level. The trigger test after assembly MUST be done after you remove the material

This shows the areas I removed material on my USGI stock to get my Shorty to fit correctly

All Chinese receivers on the lower right side are cut at an angle so on the Archangel stock a groove on top must be cut to get it to fit correctly .So if you have a CanAm Shorty you would require the the trigger group work and the work up top for the receiver.
It is a bit of work but not too hard to do.

This shows the area I worked on to get my regular length Polytech to fit my Archangel stock.

That is so nice, I am trying to think of a reason not to buy a shorty as my first rifle and this pic and the canam deal have me sooooooooooo tempted.

That's one sharp lookin rifle, nice work.
Can I ask what paint you used, surface prep needed and how is it sticking after some use? Been meaning to lay some colour on an archangel but have not had the time to play around with it yet.

I used Krylon for plastic, and primer for same, prepped with scotchbrite, and a wipe down with paint thinner.
Warmed it up with my heat gun before applying 1 coat of primer, and 2 coats of color..drying to tacky with heat gun between coats.
Its holding up well in all places but the magazine opening. Its very minor and could be remedied easily. Seems very resistant to grubby, oily hands.
Thanks Doc. for the compliments.
Are you still doing civilian match trigger jobs? id like to have one done.
Thank you
Dave
