28's

5.5 pounds

Only had it for less than a year but Beretta 687 in 28 is now my favorite shotgun. Can walk miles for huns or sharptails and don't notice it. Swings on birds with much faster acquisition. Took me far too long to find one.

Find a 24 ga. More energy/same weight/shells as easy to find. Got one brand new in a Berreta o/u a few years back. Came with sling swivels but they are handy too.

Brutus Doggone info is correct, Berreta made a small run of 24 gauges a few years back, been looking for one of these myself, real great gauge, especially for us odd ball calibe/gauge guys! Dale Z!

Did they make any 24 ga. Shells for them?

WOW......that's something this fella was not aware of friend.
Even with that novel chambering, exactly where would one go, to find birdshot loads for this?
Kents maybe??

Thank you for this educational fact Zywina.

Yes, Kent, ad BPI sells 24 gauge wads and finished ammo IIRC.
You can use Snider brass, and Will Bilozir also sells 24 gauge stuff.
However, to profess that it is any better or even at least as good because of availability is pure nonsense.

I have seen some Fiocchi 2.5" 11/16 oz here a few years ago. Only 24 gauge I have ever seen on a shelf. I think they were ordered in by mistake for 28ga.

Thought I havn't seen any 24g in canada, I regualary see it in the bigger sports stores in New Zealand also 32 ga, normaly Fiocchi and B&P from europe. I have only ever seen 2.5", its expensive even compaired to a 28ga"
However last year I meet a old bloke shooting quail, in otago with one, a fine SxS, I had a play with his shotgun, very nice.
I might pick one up one day,
Got several 16ga and a very nice 28g Franchi, had fun shooting the 28 at ducks this year.
