hi im want to get one of these rifle in 223. i NEED it to have iron sights! just woundering if someone can point me in the right direction were i could find one of these. remember i need it to have iron sights and be chambered for the 223.

The only Handi configured in .223 that has iron sights is the handi "superlight" ...... nice little gun and very compact with 20" barrel....

Checked LeBaron's and Cabelas and didn't see it.... you may want to check other Handi dealers around Canada....
 
I looked at some in the and have to confide that I did break down and buy a single action in Ruger #1A in 30-06.

I simply did not like the construction of the rifle (stock to receiver, etc). I also noted that after a time, the inherent weakness is the pin. With successive opening/closing how long would it take before the hinge became too loose? I abandoned that idea for the Ruger. I also like the idea of having more rounds in a magazine (bolt action) in case I miss the first time. My Ruger is also intended to be a truck gun too.
 
If you get one, keep the box! I got one last year in 22-250. With under a hundred rounds through it the darn thing kept unlocking after about 70% of the shots. (factory AND reloads). On the last few of those almost hundred shots I noticed the wood at the tang was starting to split! I downloaded the Gravel Agency return forms but decided to fix it myself. Turns out, that the locking mechanism wasn't fully engaging. Kind of like closing a door and the wedgy thing does fully engage the doorslot. With a bit of filing to decrease the angle on the locking tab, she locks up tight now. The wood issue seems to be that the stock wasn't milled to the exact shape of the tang. Magic marker on the tang and fitting it against the stock told me where to sand. Sorry for going all fixy fixy on you! Guess what I'm trying to get across is that you have to realize that you're buying a cheaper product that may have some rough edges to be ironed out. If you can do it yourself, it's worth the money.

The unlatching thing was a defect... they did a recall on the few that were affected.... never had any issues with mine but I did hear of this and tehre are some examples of it shown on Youtube....
 
H&R Handi Rifle... go to the scroll down drop box for "caliber," choose .223 Rem... go to the drop down box for "stock," choose "Monte Carlo." That is the .223 with a sighted barrel... for $269.
