Hey Guys need some help.

I purchased a new Norinco NP29 in December. It has functioned well mechanically but the last time I was shooting it the front sight fell off never to be seen again.

Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone found an aftermarket sight that works on this pistol without having to send it to a smith?

Cheers.

The Norinco front sight dovetail is not a common one.:(

This may be an opportunity to upgrade the sights.:)
Pretty much ANY available dovetail mounting front sight, will require Gunsmithing to open-up the dovetail on the slide.

A less costly option, would be to simply buy a replacement Norinco sight from a supplier like Marstar.
Marstar sells Parts.

Cheers.

I have contacted the company unfortunatly they were not much help, they referred me to the importer who has been trying to figure something out. Unfortunatly no one stocks the original sights and as I am discovering to fit other sights a smith is required. I have been told that Sig sights might fit but I have not been able to confirm this. The importer is trying to bring some originals in from China but we all know how long that can take. I must say the importer has been trying, he was going to just replace the pistol but Norinco said it is not a warranty issue.

Gunnar at ArmCo can probably help you out.

BTB - Look for your sight approx 6' behind where you were shooting from. Had the front sight on my CZ75 do the same thing. One shot it was there and the next it was gonzo. Lucky to have found it. Cost me $100 to have it re-installed:mad:

The dealer was SFRC

So SFRC passed the ball on to the importer (who is he?) and Norinco/importer is denying a warranty claim.

If this is true, it doesn't speak well for the companies involved. I hope Ryan of SFRC takes care of this. I hope too, that Marstar is not the importer because John is usually pretty good with warranties.

The importer is North Sylva. I must say they do seem to be trying but cannot seem to find an appropriate part. I have been dealing with this for over a month now and was just hoping there was a magic solution available from the combined wisdom here that I had not considered.

Ok, this is seriously funny as soon as I hit post on that last reply I received an e-mail from Jeff at North Sylva stating that he has found one from Canadaammo which will be on its way soon! Much thanks to Jeff and Canadaammo!

Now to figure out how to get this one to stay put!

Did your front site fall right out of the dovetail? I was shooting one of the new style Norinco's in .45 a while back for the first time and the sight lasted about 5 shots but it sheared right off and left the bottom part in the dovetail. Looking at the sight you can see how it was stressed going into the slide because it didn't clear the top of the slide where the sight blade overhangs....Canada Ammo sent me a replacement blade as well.

If the vertical part of the sight did not shear off like Can-Down said above, leaving the bottom part in the dovetail, do this before inserting the new sight:

First take a small punch and hammer then stipple the bottom of the new front sight, so that it will be a tighter fit in the dovetail. Regular Loctite would help too, IMO.
