Seems like a great match. I am curious though. I believe this match was in the state of Massachusetts. I see that a team from the country of Venezuala attended. Great for them...but I thought non US citizens could not be in possession of firearms in that state?

I seem to recall you having those problems for a USPSA match - I thought someone had lodged an appeal for that. I'm surprised a team was allowed to visit from Venezuela given our relationship with Hugo. Maybe they borrowed guns from S&W's shooting center.

When I heard that the Area 7 applicants from Canada had their applications returned I was shocked. When I saw this recent report of foreign shooters attending a match in Mass.. I was wondering if there was a loop hole or progress.

I haven't heard of anything.

Massachusetts law - or to be more precise, the MA FRB's chief bureaucrat's interpretation of Massachusetts law - is the problem. MA requires a LTC, but MA FRB refuses to process LTC applications from NIAs.

When Canadians' match applications were returned from MA club(s) it was just to keep these (unaware) Canadian applicants - and the club(s) - out of trouble.

Anyone who is neither a resident of the United States nor an American citizen would be faced by the same issue.

There are, no doubt, instances where people have flown under the radar, but it doesn't make it a good practice.

It is possible that these Venezualans did not "possess" firearms in MA, and that they used firearms only under the direct and immediate supervision of a MA LTC holder.

That could be done legally.
