Getting my reloading gear setup, mounted press today, need a couple of items, tools , dies and trimmer. I want to order my components soon, figured out most calibers except 243. I will probably go Nosler 95-100 bullets because of good past experence(20 yr) now powder I can't remember what I used. Any recomendations on a brand/type of powder to use for deer hunting? Also want it to shoot sub MOA of course. Thanks Roscoe ps The gun is a Sauer 202 and not sure of twist, about 22" barrel

I shoot 85 gr and 95 gr Sierra in my .243 win. The powder I'm using is H-4350.
Make sure your rifle has the twist to handle bullets heavier than 100 gr.

h4831 or RL-22 works well with that weight.

Actually, H-4895 doesn't work well in .243.

I find 760 for the lighter bullets and the 4350's with 85gr and heavier. I have not had a lot of luck with 100gr bullets in my BLR but work well in the model 70's.

I have found IMR 4350 to be a very accurate and consistent performer in 243 and also gives some of the best velocities attainable, some of the newer RL powders show promise as well. I believe someone said RL22, but I would think it a bit slow for optimum performance, maybe RL 19.

That is beauty rifle you have there, I can remember when P&D had them on sale for $1400 a number of years ago. I was asking the same question on some forums in the USA not that long ago, accurate reloading . com and most fellows seem to like IMR 4350 for heavier bullets. I did some loads with the Sierra 70gr matchkings with Win 760 a couple of months ago and they shot very well in my sako Hb. I have some 58gr Vmax loads that I may shoot tomorrow loaded with 4350 as it is the recommended powder in my Lyman manual for this bullet. FS

H1000 for the heavy stuff
Been using IMR4350 with 90 and 105 grain bullets for eons. As good a place as any to start.
"...has the twist..." Not much of an issue. Most commercial hunting rifles, even heavy barreled varmint rifles, are rifled for deer weight bullets. 85 grains and up. Usually not a big deal anyway. Some rifles do prefer heavy or light bullets though. Some shoot either well. In any case, if you're using the rifle for varmints only, there's no reason not to use heavy bullets. A ground hog, etc. won't care what kills it. Varmint bullets, usually under 85 grains, are not suitable for deer sized game. They expand rapidly without much penetration upon impact. Deer bullets penetrate while expanding.
