Flash hider removal?

Holy crap! The stock flash hider on my NEA 15 is tight! Any tips for getting one off? I see AR15 vises and such available. Are they needed this?
 
the ar armorers tools are built for that purpose and once you have them you'll never need to go looking for tools in a pinch, I would say the more important thing to look into is a barrel vise block to hold the rifle, this will eliminate any kind of twisting force that you might put on your rifle, if you've got a machinist friend get them to make one for a 6pack of beer
 
It has what I think is a crush washer on it (yes, I'm an AR noob).

I'm thinking that drilling an appropriate sized hole in a 2X4 with a spade bit, then cutting the piece of 2X4 down the center of the hole with a table saw would make me a nice barrel clamp to go in a vice, if I lined it with some rubber or something similar.

I just don't have the spade bit or the table saw. LOL

The stock brake will be fine for now until I have some more time to approach it again. :)

Yes, use a barrel vise or vise insert when removing any flash suppressor.

It is secured with a crush washer. A barrel vise and a 3/4 wrench or armourers tool will get the job done for you.

Why would we loctite a flash hider? Regardless, I'm pretty sure that loctite would hold fast under the ravaging inferno produced by a hair dryer. ;)

No need even to do that. I made one out of wood and secured the barrel with it in a table vice, it worked fine, and didn't damage the finish.

I don't know why..just putting it out there. purple and blue loctite goes liquid with just the heat of a blow dryer..at least it has for me in the past
 
I asked this already few weeks ago. LOL

Just like what everyone keeps telling you whenever you post a question, do a search. :p

I removed mine by using WD-40, old socks, and vise grip.
