trouble is coming folks , i just got this reply from the tax wasting jokers in the thought police headquarters when applying for an antique firearms letter to import an antique gun.
when did this skulduggery begin? the infestation is getting worse it may soon be terminal.
"It" appears to be growing more aware of our "evil hobby" that had previously passed under its collective nose..

maybe this is the second phase of their 5 five year plan to "re-educate" us
maybe the next step involves genital piercing with your id chip and then a compulsory monthly estrogen shot and re-education in a choice of Swahili or Arabic..

Maybe that's just my paranoid mind working, been digging my tunnels for the coming race war so i can store water. with that and the moon ranch ill be rich.
BUT .. But what it looks more to me is like a organised and slow step towards registering antique firearms.. keeping an illegal shadow database of people requesting antique arms letters.. and then ultimately using this to track owners and enforce a more effective LEGAL system of tracking and elimination ownership merging it with current firearms classes.

see execration below of email from the skylab HQ

Antique Requests must including the following information prior to our unit authorizing a letter declaring the legal class of "Antique" to firearms:

1) Make
2) Model
3) Serial number
4) Calibre configuration
5) Firearm license number (FAC), if you have one
6) Full Mailing address, if no FAC

7) Indicate how you wish to receive the letter, via email or regular post

Any Canadian in with a license for the Possession & Acquisition of Firearms, known as a PAL, must attempt the registration of all their firearms regardless of the firearm's potential legal classification.

If you do not have a PAL, then you must supply us with your complete mailing address and contact information, that way we have an accurate record of your request. We can then issue you a letter declaring the firearm's legal class for the purpose of importing it (or them) into Canada.

"Antique" class firearms will be processed in the same manner as regular firearms, but instead of generating a registration certificate, a formal letter declaring the legal class of your firearm as "Antique" will be issued to you.

ps underlined bits are the "improvements" to "help" us be better soviets and forget our kulak tendencies

Yup, they will deregister them upon request later.

That's what happened with mine last fall.

You need to be careful with antique status firearms. Many of them were previously registered.

They don't get unregistered, until you affirm their status in writing and with a verification by an accredited verifier, until you have confirmed the actual status of the firearm and then request in writing, the deregistration of the firearm.

Nothing new by a long shot. They are covering their butts and have done so for a long time.

Plus, who has ever witnessed one of those letters soften up the heart of a LEO who feels his monopoly of force is being threatened?

Interesting to note the references to the FAC. There have been no valid FACs for years now.

Don't get a letter. There is no legal requirement to obtain a letter. Simple.

Why put yourself through the grief of having your antique confiscated, maybe even damaged and the expense of a lawyer to make a point???

Many of these old girls were registered in the past. It can be a real nightmare to get them unregistered if they are sitting in a police lock up and you have been arrested/charged.

Some common sense goes a long way here.

Documentation goes a long way to not having any un needed trouble.

The LEOs on this site, are familiar with antique laws and how they can be used.

That doesn't go for all LEOs on the job.

Make your life easier if you can.

Emotional rants will just get you into embarrassing and uncomfortable situations.

It will also get you "red flagged" on CPIC.

Go the extra step and get the proper documentation. It will increase the value of the firearm as well.

Show me proof of a letter helping anybody. I've imported dozens of antiques with no letters, never a problem. The antique status letters are nothing but a back door registry. The RCMP wouldn't do the letters just to help "us" out...

when asked for PAL say you don't have one.

I have talked to them on this. The answer I was given was they want your pal so they have your address... In order to send you a letter. That's why it's pal OR full mailing address.

The bottom line is they are using it as a back door registry. I've never seen or heard of a letter helping anybody out of a jam. If your out in the bush and a Leo sees you with a handgun, a ripped up old letter isn't going to do a lot of good. An frt print out is just as good.

If you look at the letters one of the first lines is "according to the information you provided"... That kids, is the disclaimer.

true said mate.
that is exactly what it is .. the antique letters for importing ok, that ill do. just because there is so many people in the customs/police jobs who dont know guns and dont do their jobs as theyer described.
BUT they dont need my name or my address to make that letter. and they sure dont need to include that little serial number on the letter.. they should just pirint it out with the description of what youve asked.. good enough.. any more is indicating another sort of motive.
we should resist this as an invasion of our privacy

when asked for PAL say you don't have one.

"Any Canadian in with a license for the Possession & Acquisition of Firearms, known as a PAL, must attempt the registration of all their firearms regardless of the firearm's potential legal classification. "

thats the part that now worries me. sounds very cunning to me ,
yes i will inform them ill continue to use the old system i have been using ,
i call the regularly to speed them up so the know my first name. but i don't wish to even give them my last name.

when asked for PAL say you don't have one.

Pretty dubious advice, because it is inconceivable that they do not have call display plus obviously you have to give a name and address. Essentially you are giving them false information and they know it. You should expect lots of hassles associated with saying you have no PAL when you in fact do.
Further if you do in fact not have a PAL, they may take the approach that you have to have one so that the gun can be registered and then unregistered as an antique; in the absence of a PAL they may claim that you have to surrender the gun.

As an example, I bought a registered Spencer carbine. Obviously it should not have been registered. When I asked to have the gun taken off the registry, I was told that I had to have it transferred to me first and then deregistered. The statement was that the gun was a registered gun until such time as it was taken off and that it had to have a PAL associated with it until that time. BS I realize but since the RCMP administers the licensing and the registration it controls what happens and can act on policies rather than the law

yes it is a initial step in some sort of plan to remove the antique firearms class. this has happened in the past (australia for one in some states antiques are registered and must be locked up like a bomb classed same as if theyer were a fullauto) if you dont organize and resist.. they will win and in 10-15 years we wont exist..
It will just be a couple of old rich buggers mostly former cops and government employees with special permits like in hongkong, japan or england who cant even touch a gun without removing a limb.

Asking for these letters just draws un-needed attention.

I twitch every time I read a post about wither hunting with antique revolvers or ordering a "letter".

Can we not ban discussion of these two subjects already?

i see your point the way you explained this makes sense. Not saying that i did this. Just my opinion.
Also they really do not need your address or real name. I had mine sent to me in PDF form to my email. So none of the info aside of the firearm is really necessary. Reason they keep it is clear...registration which is useless now as i sold the antique.

Why ban things that YOU dont like to discuss?
that's a hypocritical stance for a GUN owner to take considering the amount of slander, censorship and "banning" that is levelled towards on any given day.
the attention is on us already!
we must discuss these things and be informed of the actions of our opponents, be prepared to act to protect our interests and lobby to maintain the few things we can do..
its our right to possess what is "deemed legal" to own in this nation, if we take one step back just one then they'll take 10 over us.
we need to confront them on every policy, write letters bombard these clowns, inundate them with complaints and requests for more information till they're backlogged attempting to justify their actions.
and harass and hassle your local MP's with complaints about the firearms laws and the unfair treatment we receive
that is how these things work...
the "other side" is doing this constantly... and thats why were loosing there is more feminists and man hating ex-hippie castretti out there who hate us and our hobbies, theyer in the government and they are voters... they are active.
we are now a small minority.. a hated few. and our situation is getting worse. we must stand up for our selves..
