Hi all,

So I bought a mossberg 930 from cabelas and took it out for the first time today. Decided to put 200 rounds of low brass 2 3/4 number 8's through it to test some of the things about feed issues I've been reading on cgn, and shotgunworld.

The other gun is a Winchester SX2.

What I was completely expecting was the gun not to cycle properly. I was waiting for the bolt to stay forward from the light loads. Never happened. In fact the gun was almost perfect.

But I did have 2 stoppages. Here's what they looked like.

I have never seen this before. I would be firing and the bolt would lock back and I would find the double mag feed. They would be jammed tight together by the mag spring, I would have to push the slightly protruded extra round back into the tube with my finger and it would free up the round, good to go.

But I don't know what would be causing this. This is my first semi, any thoughts?

Do not panick. First thing, did you disassemble the gun and remove all shipping/packing grease? This should be done. Next, I would shoot a box or 2 of heavy loads through it to "break it in". Bet it will work fine. By the way, it's not the 930 that you read about with cycling issues, it is the 3 1/2" model 935.

It's possible, but did you take the forearm off and clean the internals? I think a box or two of heavy loads will really help. Also, were you using cheap Winchester shells? These sometimes give a problem.

My mossberg 935 will not cycle anything with short brass, it only reliably cycles long brass shells.

I was worried the same would happen with me. But mine goes through them all day. Any reason ours are different?

The 935 is a 3 1/2 while the 930 is a 3. From what I've read you'll have better experience with 2 3/4 shots on the 930 as it's a 3" instead of 3 1/2. Most 3 1/2 semi's won't cycle 2 3/4 and the 935 follows that trend.

What's the best way to clean out the mag tube?
