Great choice, you will not be disappointed. Hope you buy a couple of crates of ammo to blast through it.

Make sure you clean the chamber well the first time (everytime) to ensure you get no stuck casings.

I don't own cz/vz (yet?) but if you read both sks and cz sticky FAQs, cz seems to be more problematic

Stickies don't really tell the whole story, or offer a large sample of users with which to make an informed decision.

I own both, and each has eaten several thousand rounds, WITH ZERO FAILURES!

They are both tough as nails. SKS is heavier, which some people like to keep them stable while shooting offhand. They both have a short length of pull, and Im tall so I hunch slightly with both.

CZ is 500 more then SKS, but I use it 5x more. Getting a T6 stock for the SKS and then we will see which is better to shoot.

There is duckbill magazines that hold 30 rds. And more ...

One day, we hope, the 5 pin limit will be history, and the 858 will hold 30 rounds again. The SKS is 5?

Made me laugh. You have to understand that some people prefer plastic and it makes rifle lighter also some of us taller and tapco stock is a saver.
Nothing bad if you want to transform your rifle to your likes in the end you paid for it you do whatever you want to it.

The CZ is superior in every way. Better ergonomics, better trigger, etc. That said, I still bought both. Can't let my friends just stand around while I shoot the 858, can I?

The sks rifles I have owned have always worked. The cz, not so much. The cz got returned to Wolverine for repair twice, and was finally replaced by them with an Armalite.
(As a side note, the customer service at Wolverine was excellent.)

I also found that the cz was less comfortable to shoot.

I was in your shoes exactly. I have a few sks's now, no cz yet. Go shoot the sks, if you still want the 858, get it. It's a different style, lots of fans for both.

Haven't shot my SKS's since I got a CZ, in fact I haven't even taken them out of the safe. CZ is worth the price difference.

I use to have this SKS, it was my first rifle.. it seemed to be the coolest thing at that time..

until i caught the 858 virus.. shortly after i sold my SKS and never looked back.. i really liked all the different options 858 had to offer.. the pics are in chronological order... as my CZs "evolved"..

So if you can, go ahead and get your self an 858, you will not regret it.

Yes, that's a real Kobra Red Dot .. Great sight, returns to zero nô matter how many times I take it off.
