Is there something wrong with using .22lr lead rounds (blazer) in gsg 1911?
Does it cause problems in the gun? I guy said that the lead rounds are ok for rifles, but he recommended copper coated ones for handguns. Anyone has the pros and cons.

Lead's fine. I read once that it likes higher velocity rounds but I cannot confirm.

P.S. Don't worry about FTF or FTE with .22's. The nature of the cartridge lends itself to some of that from time to time.
 
I agree with above poster. I have heard that above 1000 feet per second there could be lead coating problems. I wouldn't worry with a .22LR. You can buy cleaners for lead fouling as well if your worried but be sure to clean the bbl afterward.

I got my 555 WInchester bulk from BassPro. Which kind of Whinchester ammo you got from CT?

According to people here Winchester and Federal are cheapy and crappy ammo, which ammo is good and reliable?
 
Try everything, use whatever gives best group with failure free operations.

My GSG likes Stingers and mini-max. Of the cheap ammo Win. Xpert is best, Blazer is second. Try everything from Fed, CCI, Win., Rem.
 
I find Blazer works the best, and Remington Golden Bullet bulk if you want to shoot a coated bullet. I get less leading with the Remington rounds.

The copper colour on some .22 bullets is literally a wash that is far less than skin deep. It's no worse or better as a lubricant than the waxy stuff used on common lead rounds like CCI Standard Velocity or Blazer.

I'd be highly surprised if your gun leads up the bore any less or more with one over the other.
 
Nice, thx for the input. I'll experiment to see for myself. It's part of the fun right? I was just worried that the lead bullets will melt and damage something.
 
When new my gsg didnt cycle blazer very well, several ftfeed, wanted copper washed only, but now takes anything no probs. I keep the mags oiled, that seems to help and will polish the feed ramp. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

what's the point ( excuse the pun)of using 22 lead over 22 copper( whatever) there's CERTAINLY no SAVING in the COST of the ammo- unless you get ahold of that mexican or russian pure crap stuff which i won't shoot anyway i can understand it with pcf, but not with 22- if your lead ammo is cheaper, you NEED to be shopping around
 
Not about the savings. 22s are very particular to ammo, some like my CZ455 likes lead better. Expensive ammo like Eley is lead.
